Congratulations, Jim! This
is great!
I think it would be best to make it switchable if you can, with a radio
button choice in the Set Up Project dialog box. Please, Silas
users--your opinions would be good here.
Which do you use for your Scripture Project:
(a) Footnote letters starting from "a" on each page, or
(b) continuous "numbering" from a-z?
(c) Or neither... some use a fixed footnote caller,
(d) others use no caller, but each footnote begins with the reference
C:V.
To clarify for newer users:
Silas can support all four of these options now. The two that are in
question are (a) and (b). When you set up footnotes in Paratext you
choose between (b), (c), (d), based on how you set up the footnote
fields. Hopefully all your footnotes will be set up consistently--
newer Paratext users, now might be a good time to check this out if you
have not yet thought it through. It's easier to format all your
footnotes the same, even if you might change your mind down the road
(you can change them all at once with regular expressions or CC). The
document, "USFM Instructions," for which Silas adds a shortcut on your
desktop and/or Quick Launch toolbar, will help you set up footnotes
properly. [Jim, perhaps this shortcut should also be added to the Start
Menu Silas folder, in case people have deleted it from QLaunch.]
Silas, thanks to Jim, has now added option (a), which will convert
(b)-style Paratext footnotes, forcing the numbering to start over with
"a" on each page of the Scripture printout.
