Just in time for Easter for some of you, there is a new version of
SILAS, the Smart Interactive Layout Assistant for Scripture, available
for download at
http://code.google.com/p/silas/
as a featured download. The file to get is Silas-v2.209-1.14-
Setup.exe.
The main change in this version is to fix a problem where the last
verse of a chapter runs onto the next page. In earlier versions of
SILAS, only the new chapter number would appear in the new page
header. Now the number of the finishing chapter, whose last verse runs
onto the new page, also appears in the header of the new page.
Documents that you format from scratch with this new version of SILAS
will have this problem corrected. If you have Word documents that were
formatted with an older version of SILAS, installing the new version
won't fix their formatting, but a procedure to fix those documents
appeared in a recent posting in the silas-talk group.
Another change in this new version of SILAS is that the "hidden"
currentchapter numbers which are formatted very small and thin and
white on white in the style "_CurrentChapter" and which occur next to
the verse numbers are now located before the verse numbers instead of
after the verse numbers. And one of these currentchapter numbers now
also occurs before the last paragraph mark of each chapter, to make
the chapter number appear correctly in the page header.
If you want to get this new version, close Word, download the file
named above and run it. When the Word document Install Silas.doc is
opening, enable macros and then click the button Install Template, so
that the template Silas.dot will be copied to the folder where Word
expects to find templates.
Easter blessings,
Jim
