The latest version of SILAS has just emerged from alpha and beta
testing. It matches the current USFM verson, 2.208, that was released
on April 21, 2009.
This version of USFM.sty adds a style for the standard USFM code,
"\sts", which you can use to mark the checking status of a file or
section of a file. The stylename is "rem - File - Status". SILAS
adjusts to this, and the checking stage of the text still appears in
the page footers of proof printouts. (The way to use the \sts code is
described in the PDF file on how to use USFM codes, and there's a link
to it on the SILAS web page,
code.google.com/p/silas
where you can download a Windows installer.)
Users can now have footnote reference letters restart at "a" each
page.
SILAS now handles the USFM code "//" so it produces an optional line
break. This is useful in long section headings, so you can control
where the linebreak happens.
Documents produced by WordSend (ie. Onyx) are now recognised, and the
stylenemes converted to USFM versions.
Fixed problem for some South American systems, where the national
language settings have the same character for decimal point and list
separator. With this setting, Word can't do math, so the separator
between chapter numbers in page headers disappears. Now shows 4-5 and
5-7 in these countries.
Those who like to use Ctrl-PgDn or the double-arrow button at the
bottom-right of the Word screen to browse by pages were frustrated
because SILAS changed this to "most-recent-find". SILAS no longer does
that antisocial thing.
Other bug fixes.
If you have any problems installing SILAS, please read carefully the
information in the file "Install SILAS.doc" that apply to your version
of Word.
If you have any other problems with SILAS, you can add an issue to the
Issues page at the SILAS web site (link above) or open the START menu
on your computer and go to Programs then the SILAS group, and open the
item "Report a problem with SILAS", answer the questions inside and
email the file to Kim and me.
There is also a file "Frequently asked questions about SILAS Scripture
template" in the START menu SILAS group and in the QuickLaunch menu,
that might have answers to your questions.
And to discuss how to use SILAS with other users, you can join the
"silas-talk" Google group, using the link on the SILAS web site.
Yours for safer and better printouts,
Jim
