Dear SIGTYPers,

We would like to thank all of you who attended and participated in SIGTYP 2024! We hope you had a wonderful time and enjoyed it!

We would like to express our highest gratitude to people without whom the workshop would not have been possible:

Oksana Dereza, Frederick Riemenschneider, An Tuan Dao, Ercong Nie, Jessica Nieder for being terrific hosts for the workshop! Oksana also took many wonderful photos during the workshop, you may find them here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/7cwudebi750tfdiadiesc/h?rlkey=ogus2t2eynf8tbgeba7nm8lxa&dl=0 (THANK YOU SO MUCH!)

Michael Hahn and Priya Rani who were leading the organising team, worked on the workshop schedule and proceedings, and hosted the online part of the workshop!

Oksana Dereza, Adrian Doyle, Priya Rani, Atul Ojha, Pádraic Moran and John McCrae for leading the fantastic shared task on Word Embedding Evaluation for Ancient and Historical Languages!

Our shared task teams: TartuNLP (Aleksei Dorkin and Kairit Sirts), Heidelberg-Boston (Frederick Riemenschneider and Kevin Krahn), UDParse (Johannes Heinecke), Allen Institute for AI (Lester James V. Miranda)!

Christian Bentz and Ximena Gutierrez-Vasques for giving such inspiring keynote talks!

    All paper authors and presenters!

Yulia Otmakhova who took care of the program committee!

Rena Gao who communicated with our sponsors!

    SIGTYP 2024 Program Committee!

THANK YOU ALL FOR SUCH A GREAT WORKSHOP!

All workshop papers, slides, recorded talks are available on our website https://sigtyp.github.io/ws2024-sigtyp-schedule.html; on Youtube we created a playlist with all SIGTYP 2024 talks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iENx7nyr5cs&list=PLFIGad0NI4otwQlvX1IxcUGE9r5N7JSR9

Finally, we congratulate Luise Häuser, Gerhard Jäger, Johann-Mattis List, Taraka Rama and Alexandros Stamatakis on winning the BEST PAPER AWARD ("Are Sounds Sound for Phylogenetic Reconstruction?"), they will receive a certificate and a souvenir (a book; it will be mailed).

If you have any suggestions/feedback on how to improve the format of the workshop, please send them to sig...@gmail.com.

We would like to mention that two related events are coming this year: Field Matters 2024 (NLP applications to Field Linguistics; co-located with ACL), MRL 2024 (Multilingual Representation Learning; co-located with EMNLP)

Warm regards,
Kat (on behalf of the SIGTYP 2024 organising team)
