To enhance the accessibility and management of community events, we are transitioning to an opt-in Calendar system. This adjustment simplifies how our community members track and participate in upcoming meetings and activities, ensuring a more organized and user-friendly experience.
Key Changes:
- Opt-In Calendar: We are moving away from sending direct or opt-out calendar invites via this Google Group. Now, you can opt-in to see Calendar events and receive notifications.
- How to Opt-In:
1. Join the Community List: If you haven't already, please join our dedicated Google Group at

Enable Event Displays: Adjust your Calendar settings to display the events from the community-list "SIGTURK Community List" Calendar, ensuring you stay informed about upcoming activities.

https://support.google.com/calendar/answer/37100- Meeting Contents: Although the event invite will remain the same, the purpose of our meetings will now be differentiated by their scheduling, implicitly holding the same title for the same timeslot:
- The last meeting of each month will be dedicated to our General Monthly Meeting.
- All other monthly meetings will focus on Research and Discussion every week.
- To increase our flexibility and agility, any important matter requiring active participation will specify the meeting in which it will be addressed, allowing us to adapt our schedule as necessary, for instance, if there's a need to reschedule members-related discussions that typically occur on the last Monday.
Upcoming Changes:
- Primary Mailing List: The community-list Google Group will soon become our primary mailing list for all SIGTURK communications. This transition will facilitate easier joining and leaving processes for our members, fostering a more dynamic and engaging community environment.
- Enhanced Member Participation: We are introducing improvements to member-only activities, such as voting, without requiring a members-only group tied to a specific address. These enhancements will rely on per-mail checks to ensure inclusivity and ease of participation, accommodating the varying email preferences among our members.
