How to Use Waves Renaissance Vox
Once you have downloaded and installed R-Vox, you can use it on your vocals and other instruments in your DAW of choice. R-Vox is compatible with most major DAWs such as Pro Tools, Logic, Cubase, Ableton Live and more.
To use R-Vox, you need to insert it as an effect plugin on the track that you want to process. You can also use it on a bus or an aux send if you want to apply it to multiple tracks at once.
R-Vox has only three controls: gate, compression and gain. Here is how to use them:
- Gate: The gate control sets the level below which the signal is attenuated. This helps to reduce unwanted noise and bleed from other sources. You can adjust the gate by dragging the left fader up or down. The gate value is indicated on the fader. Double-click on the Gate value box to enter a value directly from the keypad. Range: -96 dB to 0 dB.
- Compression: The compression control sets the amount of compressor-related gain reduction. It combines in one fader the traditional threshold and ratio controls. As you lower the control, gain reduction increases, as does output level. But the output will not clip because of a peak limiter. You can adjust the compression by dragging the center fader up or down. The compression value is indicated on the fader. Double-click on the Comp value box to enter a value directly from the keypad. Range: -36 dB to -36 dB.
- Gain: The gain control sets the output level of the plugin. It also determines how hard you hit the limiter, which affects the texture of the sound. You can adjust the gain by dragging the right fader up or down. The gain value is indicated on the fader. Double-click on the Gain value box to enter a value directly from the keypad. Range: -18 dB to 18 dB.
R-Vox also has a large meter that displays the total gain reduction of the processor: the sum of the compressor and the gate. The peak gain reduction value is shown at the bottom of the meter. Click on the number to reset peak hold.
