What about IPv6?

Hello there,

I was just trying to verify binaries on an IPv6-only host, only to realise
that there's apparently no IPv6 support. Even the homepage (https://
sigstore.dev) does not have any kind of AAAA records.

Is this intentional or just an oversight?

All the best
Jasmin

Hi Jasmin,

Our main website host (used for our homepage and docs) unfortunately does not support IPv6 unless we use their DNS provider, which we've chosen not to do due to a lack of functionality. As far as our various endpoints used as part of the signing or verification process - it's on our roadmap to support IPv6, but we don't have a definitive date set yet.

Thanks,
Bob

Hi Bob,

Glad to hear that it's already on the roadmap! I am actually shocked to hear
that there are providers who do not provide IPv6 out of the box and free for
everyone without any weird vendor lock-ins.

Alas, that's not a thing that you or the sigstore.dev team could fix right
away, so for now I'm fine with it being just on the roadmap. With IPv6 soon to
be 30 years old, I can only hope it's not getting postponed for the eternity.
🙈

Best regards
Jasmin
