The age of a person can be counted differently in different cultures. This calculator is based on the most common age system. In this system, age increases on a person's birthday. For example, the age of a person who has lived for 3 years and 11 months is 3, and their age will increase to 4 on their next birthday one month later. Most western countries use this age system.
In some cultures, age is expressed by counting years with or without including the current year. For example, a person who is twenty years old is the same age as another person who is in their twenty-first year of life. In one of the traditional Chinese age systems, people are born at age 1 and their age increases up at the Traditional Chinese New Year rather than their birthday. For example, if one baby is born just one day before the Traditional Chinese New Year, 2 days later, the baby will be 2 even though he/she is only 2 days old.
In some situations, the months and day result of this age calculator may be confusing, especially when the starting date is the end of a month. For example, we count Feb. 20 to Mar. 20 to be one month. However, there are two ways to calculate the age from Feb. 28, 2022 to Mar. 31, 2022. If we consider Feb. 28 to Mar. 28 to be one month, then the result is one month and 3 days. If we consider both Feb. 28 and Mar. 31 as the end of the month, then the result is one month. Both calculation results are reasonable. Similar situations exist for dates like Apr. 30 to May 31, May 30 to June 30, etc. The confusion comes from the uneven number of days in different months. In our calculations, we use the former method.
We all know that having birth dates helps us to complete the information for our ancestors and birth dates many times are much harder to find the further back you go. But many times we at least have the date of death with the age listed in Years-months-days.
So how does one calculate a date to get as close as possible to the date of birth? There is no special function to calculate age in Excel, however there exist a few different ways to convert date of birth to age. Overall, subtracting the birth date from the current date works great in normal life, but is not the ideal approach in Excel. Further on in this tutorial, you will learn a couple of special functions that calculate age faultlessly regardless of the year.
Calculate age from date of birth with YEARFRAC functionA more reliable way to convert DOB to age in Excel is using the YEARFRAC function that returns the fraction of the year, i.e. the number of whole days between two dates.
No additional rounding function is needed in this case because a DATEDIF formula with the "y" unit calculates the number of full years:
How to get age from birthday in years, months and daysAs you have just seen, calculating age as the number of full years that the person has lived is easy, but it is not always sufficient. If you want to know the exact age, i.e. how many years, months and days there are between someone's birth date and the current date, write 3 different DATEDIF functions:

It works fine as long as there is a date in the referenced cell. I want to be able to leave the cell blank if the referenced cell is blank. I tried using an IF formulation, but it was not working. Anyone know how to set up the formula so that if the referenced cell is blank, it gives me a blank and if it has a date, it calculates the new year for the date.

If I understand correctly, you need to subtract years and months from the current date. If you subtract age from the current date, you get the date of birth. Use these guidelines: How to add and subtract dates, days, weeks, months and years in Excel.
Hope this is what you need.
I want to a formula to find eligible candidates in age, who completed 18 years as on 01.01.2020 and not above 25 years. Their is no age relaxation For Unreserved (UR) category candidates. 3 years age relaxation for OBC candidates and 5 years age relaxation for SC category candidates.
