hi all,

Here are a few updates:

=> An Author pattern has been added to the Signposting site, see http://signposting.org/author/ . Feedback is very welcome.

=> Patterns that involve DOIs are currently being updated on the Signposting site with two regards:

(1) To match the new DOI Display Guideline, which promotes the use of https://doi.org/... rather than http://dx.doi.org/... See http://blog.crossref.org/2016/09/new-crossref-doi-display-guidelines.html

- Example link from landing page to DOI:

Link: <https:doi.org/10.1017/jns.2015.28>; rel="identifier"

(2) To align with the description of the shared content negotiation approach for DOIs minted by CrossRef, DataCite, and mEDRA, see http://citation.crosscite.org/docs.html. As a result, "describedby" links pointing at DOI metadata no longer point at e.g. CrossRef (http://data.crossref.org/...) and DataCite endpoints but rather also at https://doi.org/...

- Example link from a landing page and from the DOI itself to DOI metadata:

Link: <https://doi.org/10.1017/jns.2015.28>; rel="describedby"; type="application/vnd.citationstyles.csl+json"

Greetings

Herbert,

this all sounds good, and I like using DOI content negotiation instead of data.crossref.org and data.datacite.org. I have started work to add link headers for DataCite DOIs to the DOI proxy at https://doi.org, but this will take some time. Part of this work will be Link headers that directly point to content, using rel="item".

Best,

Martin
