From the rulebook:

Team scores will appear once there have been three male and three female scores posted for the Team.
  1. Team score will be the aggregate of the best three male and best three female performances (time, weight, or reps) for that particular workout.
  2. If a team member skips a workout or cannot complete the minimum score, they cannot contribute to the team score for the following Open workouts. If they contributed to a previous team scores then that score will remain valid.
Assuming Jacki & Nicole compete in the Open, we need @ least one more female to have a team...

Would someone that uses scaled variations even benefit the team?

Hi Sandra,

Sorry I forgot to reply to your post regarding scaled variations!! The only scaled variations allowed are for the Masters' divisions, & those are only for groups 55 years old & older.

For everyone else, we will be doing the same workouts. However, when you look @ the WODs from the 2012 Open, they will most likely be programmed in a way that allows maximum participation, but still allows your elite athletes to go even further. For example, in WOD 12.2, the snatch ladder, the weights start out very light in the beginning & as you go further, the weights get heavier. So even if you can't lift the heavy weights, you can still do the lighter weights to try to contribute to the team score.
