Great video!!

Couple things to look out for... Notice in his starting position for every lift, his butt is higher than his knees. This is GOOD & desirable! This is the CrossFit Olympic Lifting coach, Mike Burgener, talks about having before every lift. This gets your knees out of the way so you can get a strong pull from the ground using the strongest muscles of your body, your BUTT CHEEKS! However, also notices that his knees roll inwards a little bit @ the bottom of every squat after he catches the weight (both in the snatch as well as the clean & jerk). This is VERY BAD & will be a limiting factor because of the increased stress in the knees (MCL in particular). This can lead to knee problems in the long term, if you always squat like this for years.

My favorite moments in the video:
  • Snatch starting @ 1:50, he gets 135 kg, screams in some European language, throws the weight down & KICKS it!
  • C&J starting @ 3:53, he misses 172 kg, drops & just waves it off in disappointment...
  • Notice how after EVERY clean when he stands up from the squat, he adjusts his grip from a fingertip grip to a FULL grip on the bar. This is what Coach Burgener teaches & what is usually taught. Others can get away without it, but I like to have that full grip before I go overhead. I have yet to experiment with the jerk from a fingertip grip, which is how Rich Froning, Dan Bailey, & Camille Leblanc-Bazinet do theirs... I'm sure there's more athletes that do that, but those are the ones that come to mind from HQ's videos recently.
  • His grunt/scream @ the end of EVERY lift is awesome! Grunting makes you stronger, even if you grunt in a foreign language! We should all strive to achieve this level of proficiency in our grunting...
  • @ the end of every lift, watch how much the stuff on the table & on the floor bounces & shakes all over the place...
