My Outlook was updated to the newest version a few days ago and I'm having issues with opening PDF attachments in my default PDF viewer. Before, you could click the attachment in the email and get a preview but if you were to fully open the attachment it would open in my default application. Since the update, when i click on the attachment it pulls up the preview but the only way to actually open it is to save it to OneDrive, download to my computer, or print. In most cases I need to open the full attachment but not necessarily need to save it. Just review in detail and the preview is not working well enough for me. I'm not even able to rotate using the right-click and rotate. How can I change this to open in my default viewer and not in the message preview only?
Once you have adjusted these settings, try opening a PDF attachment in Outlook again. It should now open in your default PDF viewer instead of just displaying the preview. You should be able to review the attachment in detail, rotate pages, and perform other functions available in your PDF viewer.

@AsTheCrowFlew yea it's just gotten frustrating. Our clients are medical facilities so email encryption is a must have for us, kind of puts everything at a stand-still. It can't linger on for a day let alone a week like it has with no solution from MS techs, or seemly any sense of urgency. And it's Friday and no word yet this morning. Since our exchange mail rule stopped working MS can't figure it out and we're sort of stuck ATM, all our emails need to be encrypted (PHI). Prior to a couple weeks ago, all we did was put 'encrypt' in the subject line and that would encrypt the mail and our clients would receive an html link they never had any issues opening, either with the one-time passcode or creating a login. Now MS has setup this new encryption method via the azure portal, spent over 2 hrs on the phone with the tech setting it all up and getting it activate (we think), using all these PowerShell commands, creating a new mail flow rule, disabling the old one, adding licensing, not even sure what PowerShell has to do with email encryption to begin with (it's certainly not user friendly like they claim, and none of it worked). How does MS expect admins to figure it out, if they can't. All our clients have their own mail systems, they don't use 365 or outlook. Best we can do ATM is encrypt the email via the lock icon in outlook but our clients can't open the rpmsg message, neither can we. There's no button to 'view this message'. And one can only spend so much time reading about email encryption and sitting on phone with a tech for hours before your sanity starts to slip :). K I'm just ranting now, thanks for responding!

Well, what in the world makes you think that the person working at home has something as expensive and as unable to help as a so-called "IT team"? I gather from my searches on the internet that problems with opening .RPMSG files have been around for more than five years now. MSFT is not interested in fixing this. They probably have some kind of statistical threshold that says: If a problem is reported by fewer than 2% of the customers, then we won't respond, won't fix it, because eventually people will give up. At this point it seems that MSFT fired the person in charge of this, so nobody is in charge of the whole mess. It is up to MSFT to prove me wrong by fixing the thing.

You need to declare the Excel Applicaton at the global scope and use it to open another workbooks. Not to create a new Excel instance for opening new files. You may find the How to automate Microsoft Excel from Visual Basic article helpful.
The more recent update is causing this issue again. I fill out the invite to schedule with outlook and nothing opens up. Even when something does open up the invites do not get sent even when sending them via outlook. I have been trying for multiple days to send out a few scheduled zoom meetings with none going out to the intended parties. Zoom needs to fix this it makes the software unusable and obsolete.

Migrated to new Outlook on Mac. . . some of the new features (pre-programed delayed meeting start) make the trade-offs worth it. One issue I can't find a fix for: given that I have 10+ years of outlook material on my laptop, sometimes finder/spotlight search is the best way to find something. Results are accurate (not an index issue), but I can only open the files from the finder if I leave New Outlook. Has anyone figured out the steps needed to allow you to open an olk15 file or eml in New outlook. FYI, I only have one "Main" profile. Outlook is the recommended application for opening--when I try to open the file, it launches Outlook but doesn't open the email or calendar item from spotlight. Thank you!
