Second call for annotators: Immediate Need for Emirati & Saudi Arabic Speakers

Dear all,

The Department of Natural Language Processing at MBZUAI invites applications to join a pool of freelance translators and annotators. Our projects involve ongoing research and evaluation activities focused on the development of LLMs with enhanced linguistic coverage for dialectal Arabic. The annotators will contribute to the creation of high-quality benchmarks for LLMs across dialects of Arabic. In particular, we are currently seeking native Emirati and Saudi Arabic speakers to join our team.

• Position details: Dialectal Arabic annotators and translators
• Scope: Freelance/project based 
• Location: Remote 
• Dialects required: Emirati or Saudi Arabic

Translator Responsibilities: 

• Translate a wide range of written content between Emirati/Saudi Arabic and English with a high degree of linguistic accuracy, clarity, and cultural relevance. 
• Produce and edit translations in Emirati/Saudi Arabic dialect. 
• Review, proofread, and refine translated materials to ensure consistency with project guidelines, style conventions, and domain-specific requirements. 
• Validate translated text in AI datasets, ensuring it is contextually correct and meets technical and linguistic criteria. 
• Support the development of glossaries, style guides, and linguistic reference documents for translation workflows.

Annotator Responsibilities: 

• Evaluate and provide judgments on model generated dialectal text data 
• Closely follow and provide feedback on annotation guidelines 
• Create datasets for training or evaluating language models 
• Conduct quality checks on annotated datasets to identify errors, gaps, or inconsistencies. 
• Ensure labeling consistency and adherence to quality standards 
• Engage and communicate with the annotation research team as required 

Requirements: 

• Native or near-native in Emirati or Saudi Arabic
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in translation studies, linguistics or related field 
• Experience in professional translation, linguistic annotation or both 
• Computer access and ability to perform the work remotely 
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet high standards 
• Ability to manage time and meet project deadlines 
• Flexibility and adaptability to evolving research priorities

يدعو قسم معالجة اللغات الطبيعية (NLP) في جامعة محمد بن زايد للذكاء الاصطناعي (MBZUAI) أصحاب الكفاءات المتميزة للانضمام إلى مجموعة من المترجمين والمعلقين اللغويين المستقلين (freelance). تدعم هذه المبادرة أنشطة بحثية وتقييمية والتي تركز على تطوير النماذج اللغوية الكبيرة (LLMs)، والتي تشمل تحليلات وتغطية لغوية للهجات العربية. سيساهم المعلقون اللغويون في إعداد معايير عالية الجودة لتدريب وتقييم النماذج اللغوية الكبيرة للهجة الاماراتيه واللهجة السعودية. 

• الوظيفة: معلقون لغويون ومترجمون للهجة الإماراتية أو اللهجة السعودية (Dialectal Arabic annotator) 
• نطاق العمل: عمل حر/ حسب الطلب 
• الموقع: عن بعد 
• اللغات المطلوبة: اللهجة الاماراتية أو اللهجة السعودية

مسؤوليات المترجم

• ترجمة نصوص من مجالات متنوعة بدقة لغوية عالية ووضوح بين اللهجتين الإماراتية والسعودية واللغة الإنجليزية، مع الحفاظ على المعنى الأصلي والسياق الثقافي 
• تحرير وإنتاج نصوص مترجمة  للهجة الاماراتية أو اللهجة السعودية
• مراجعة وتدقيق النصوص المترجمة لضمان اتساقها مع إرشادات المهام المحددة 
• تقييم جودة النصوص المترجمة آليا باستخدام نماذج الذكاء الاصطناعي المتقدمة لضمان اتساقها مع الإرشادات التقنية واللغوية المحددة 
• المساهمة الفعالة في تطوير المسارد اللغوية والإرشادات والمراجع اللغوية الخاصة بالترجمة 

مسؤوليات المعلق اللغوي (annotator)

• تقييم وتحكيم مخرجات النماذج اللغوية الكبيرة خاصة النصوص باللهجات العربية 
• الالتزام الدقيق بالإرشادات المحددة للتعليق اللغوي والمساهمة في تحسينها وتطويرها باستمرار 
• إنشاء وترميز نصوص بدقة عالية لتدريب وتقييم نماذج الذكاء الاصطناعي وفقا للمعايير المحددة 
• إجراء فحوصات جودة لتحديد الأخطاء والثغرات في التعليقات على البيانات والنصوص
• ضمان اتساق التعليقات والالتزام بمعايير جودة عالية جدا 
• التواصل الفعال والمنتظم مع فريق البحث اللغوي بخصوص تقدم العمل أو تحديات لها علاقة بالعمل 

المتطلبات الأساسية

• إتقان تام (بمستوى لغة أم) للهجة الإماراتية أو اللهجة السعودية، هذا بالإضافة إلى اللغة العربية الفصحى واللغة الانجليزية 
• درجة  بكالوريوس (أو أعلى) في الترجمة، أو اللسانيات، أو أي مجال ذي صلة 
• خبرة سابقة في الترجمة أو التعليق اللغوي (annotation) 
• توفر جهاز حاسوب شخصي للعمل عن بعد مع اتصال انترنت موثوق 
• دقة عالية والاهتمام بالتفاصيل والقدرة على تحقيق معايير الجودة العالية 
• دقة في تنظيم الوقت والالتزام بمواعيد التسليم المحددة للمهام  
• المرونة والقدرة على التكيف مع أولويات البحث المتغيرة والمهام المختلفة
