[EACL 2026] Call for Student Volunteers – Applications Open! (Rabat, Morocco)

Dear SIGARAB community,

As Student Volunteer Chair for the 19th Conference of the European Chapter of the Association for Computational Linguistics (EACL 2026), I am writing to encourage students within the Arabic NLP community to apply for our Student Volunteer program.

With the conference taking place in Rabat-Salé, Morocco (at the Bouregreg Congress Palace), this is a unique opportunity for our community to have a strong presence. We are seeking dedicated students for both in-person and online roles to contribute to the success of this event.

What You Gain

Selected volunteers will receive complimentary registration to the main conference, workshops, tutorials, and social events. Shifts are designed to optimize your access to conference events so you don't miss out on the science.

Commitment

To receive complimentary registration, a minimum of 10 hours of volunteer work is mandatory. These hours can be divided across several shifts on different days or completed in a single shift.

Selection Criteria

Candidates will be assessed based on their application package. Preference will be given to students presenting papers at the main conference or affiliated workshops who do not have alternative travel support. Students from the SIGARAB and local Moroccan communities are particularly encouraged to apply!

Application Instructions & Logistics

1. Eligibility: Applicants must be full-time students.
2. Submission: Submit the form (linked above) with a concise one-page CV (resume).
3. Registration Warning: Please refrain from registering for the conference until you receive a confirmation of acceptance into the Volunteer Service.
   • Upon acceptance, you will receive a dedicated registration link.
   • In the event of non-acceptance, the Registrar will assist in securing early registration fee rates.
   • For late volunteer registration reimbursements (if you already paid), students need to provide receipts to the 2026 ACL Reimbursement Link (provided later by the Chairs).
4. Travel & Accommodation: These must be arranged independently. Special rate lodging is secured by ACL; discounted rates can be seen on the conference website under "Participant Info > Accommodations."

Additional Financial Support

Volunteering grants you complimentary registration solely for the ACL Conference. If you require further financial assistance for lodging, airfare, or daily expenses, we advise you to apply for Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) Subsidies.

Important: You are free to seek both a Volunteer subsidy and a D&I subsidy simultaneously; there are no restrictions against receiving both.
