Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to share our newly published article, "Translanguaging at School: A Systematic Review of U.S. PK-12 Translanguaging Research," now available in System. This review synthesizes 111 empirical studies on translanguaging in PK-12 educational settings across the U.S., offering insights into its pedagogical applications, transformative potential, and ongoing debates.
Our analysis highlights key themes, including how translanguaging naturally emerges in classrooms, enhances student learning and engagement, supports identity development, and challenges deficit ideologies. We also explore the contextual factors that shape translanguaging’s impact, the role of teacher learning, and the need for more critical and decolonial perspectives in future research.
