Dear Members of the SIG,
I would like to take this opportunity to share a recently published article titled “Unpacking the Affordances of Teacher-created Translanguaging Notes for Second-language Learning Motivation in an English-medium-instruction Classroom”, which I co-authored with my PhD primary supervisor, Professor Kevin W. H. Tai.
In this article, we draw on Tai et al.’s (2026) refined theoretical framework for researching translanguaging and language learning motivation in context to explore the affordances of teacher-created translanguaging notes in micro-, meso-, and macro-levels. We argue that teacher-created translanguaging notes have the potential to enhance students’ second-language learning motivation, especially for students transitioning from first-language medium instruction to second-language medium instruction.
The paper is now published open access in RELC Journal.
