Dear colleagues,

We invite chapter abstracts for the edited volume Critical Translanguaging: Geopolitical Tensions and Decolonial Possibilities, edited by Paul Meighan (University of Galway), Zhongfeng Tian (Rutgers University–Newark), and Sender Dovchin (Curtin University).

The volume explores what makes translanguaging “critical” in relation to power, geopolitics, coloniality, land, mobility, sovereignty, identity, and epistemic justice. We welcome empirical, theoretical, conceptual, methodological, pedagogical, and community-engaged contributions from diverse educational, community, and geopolitical contexts.

The volume will be proposed to Palgrave Macmillan’s Critical Multilingualism in Education series.

Abstract deadline: December 18, 2026
Notification: January 18, 2027
Full chapter: September 1, 2027 (7,000–8,000 words)
