Dear SIMSR Alumnus,

It gives us immense pleasure to inform you that your committee 'Enactus Somaiya Social Cell' has bagged 3rd position at the esteemed "Enactus India National competition" and 1^st position for "Wal-Mart Women Economic Empowerment Project" for our initiative Project ‘Kruti’. To add on to this, SIMSR was the only institute from Mumbai to reach to this level in the competition amongst the various colleges from Mumbai like SP Jain, NITIE, HR College etc!!

This achievement is the result of efforts put in by each one of you over  the years to bring Enactus Somaiya Social Cell to its present stage and so, we would like to share our joy and congratulate you as well for this feat.

Presently Somaiya Social Cell  that works under ENACTUS umbrella is operational in 5 projects namely:

1. Project Warli: an initiative undertaken to protect ancient art form “Warli” from going extinct and strive to provide recognition to Warli tribe of Dahanu taluka, Maharashtra

2.Project Finlit, which aims to spread basic Financial Literacy among Differently Abled Youth and Low Income Group.

3.Project Kruti, opertional in Sameerwadi,Karnataka with the objective to empower marginalized women of Sameerwadi by traning them in making various handicraft products.  

4.Project Mogra aims to uplift tribal farmers of Dhundalwadi village in Maharashatra by training them in Mogra Plantation and hence prevent them from migrating to non-agricultural activities and controlling child labour prevalent in their families

5.Project Prerna, initiated this year in April, aims to provide alternative sources of living to people living in slums of Mumbai

Currently, we impact nearly 1650 people in our community which we believe can turn into many more thousands with the valuable support and guidance from each one of you.
