The 2013 SVGVS Season is right around the corner and changes are being made this season.
Our new mission statement.
"The SVGVS mission is to provide an opportunity for volleyball lovers in the Sierra Vista area to compete, while promoting camaraderie and a strong sense of community amongst its participants."
In support of this new mission statement there will be changes to some of the rules we enforce, how we enforce them, and we will eliminate the old points system and the awarding of a player of the year. Initially we started this series to give everyone a chance to play competitively. The points system was fun while it lasted but there were not that many people who were playing that were interested in this part of the series.
In support of the new mission statement we want to make the tournaments more exciting and competitive at all levels. Therefore we will be adding prizes to the top finishing 18 and under team if they are not in the championship match. This will give those players who aren't as experience as some of the adults a chance to compete for a prize on a regular basis. In order to qualify for this prize both participants need to be 18 and under as of the date of the tournament.
Also in support of the mission statement we will be organizing with local area businesses to help sponsor some of our tournaments and hold SVGVS nights at these restaurants and parties for our 21 and older crowd.
We are looking to make the tournaments more enjoyable for everyone and contribute to a thriving volleyball community. So if you have any suggestions on how we can improve or ideas in support of our mission. Please let me know.
