Driving Directions to Orienteering Activities

Directions to the Northstar-at-Tahoe Model Event (Sunday 29-January)
The earlier that you go to the Northstar ski resort, the easier your parking will be. If you go late in the morning, you might have to park a long distance from the village, where you get your trail pass and take the gondola to the Cross Country Center.

  1. From all points East and West, take Interstate 80 to Highway 267 (Exit 188B) just east of Truckee.
  2. Take Highway 267 south in the direction of King's Beach/Lake Tahoe for about 5.5 miles to Northstar Drive.
  3. Turn right onto Northstar Drive and drive until you are directed to park (this can be anywhere from 0.1 miles (far from the resort) to maybe 2 miles (at the resort).
  4. Park your car and either walk to the Northstar village if close or take a resort shuttle if you are a long distance away from the village.
  5. When you get to the village, go to the Starbucks cafe to get your trail pass. World Cup competitors who are registered for the model event can just give their name for a trail pass and model event map. Others can get their registration packets, a trail pass (if registered for this event), and the model event map.
  6. After you get your trail pass, walk to the gondola building, board the gondola and go to the Mid Mountain ski lift area.
  7. From the gondola building, go left and up the hill to the Cross Country Center. From there, continue almost 2 km up the mountain to the main trail network. Follow the signs to the start.
