Hello everyone!
If you are interested in becoming an Outings Leader, here's a brief summary of what you need to do:
Taking in-person training in Harrisburg on a Saturday in Spring or wait until Fall to do a virtual training.
Take a First Aid course through the American Red Cross. This typically takes a half day.
Host a provisional hike with a certified Outings Leader.
That's all in a nutshell. You get the pleasure of being outdoors when you host hikes and walks. Plus you get to share the love of the outdoors with people, some of whom have never been on hikes before or have never been to a specific preserve or trail.
I suggest hosting at least three hikes per year, although we do not have a requirement.
If you want to learn more or have questions, kindly reach out to my colleagues, David Calloway or Delane Cachia. Both are copied on this email.
Thank you for your consideration!
