If you've ever thought about building a wooden raised bed but have been unsure of how to start, this workshop is for you! We will give you background information on preferred woods and hardware, linings, soils, sizes, anticipated cost, etc. with how-to diagrams, along with the benefits and pitfalls, which veggies do best and which are problematic. We will then demonstrate the actual build.
The workshop will be led by Boris Kerzner.
Gardening in the ground - like farmers do - is an ideal way to grow your vegetables and requires only a few inputs -break up the soil and plant some seeds! That said, raised beds can provide many benefits! Control over the soil -especially helpful if the soil is hard clay, very rocky or wet. You will have fewer weeds in the beginning since the soil will be imported. And finally, some may prefer the aesthetics of a raised bed.

If you want to build along with us, you certainly can do so - once registered we will send out the list of required supplies and best places to purchase the materials. As for those participants who just want to learn the techniques and tips - no problem! At the end of the workshop all will receive a few plants or seeds to get started!
All questions are welcome!
Let us know if you plan to build your own at the workshop.
