NYS Senator Kevin Parker || Candidate for NYC Comptroller

DORC will be making endorsements for Mayor, Comptroller, and Public Advocate. Note: Only members who have paid dues will be able to vote and you must attend the meeting to vote.

MEETING ACTIVITIES

Call to Order & Pledge of Allegiance

Guest Speakers

Video conference set up for guest speakers as both were in Albany, NY, working on budget reconciliation    as part of their current job duties.

NYS Assemblywoman Jennifer Rajkumar, candidate for NYC Public Advocate, spoke first.

NYS Senator Kevin Parker, candidate for NYC Comptroller, ended up being unable to talk to the group. Per Roy Moskowitz, Senator Parker will talk to DORC May 2025.

Endorsement Discussion

There were not enough members present to satisfy a quorum to make formal endorsements.

Questions on endorsements and endorsement processes

DORC bylaws - does anyone have the latest and greatest?

May meeting, to take place May 19, 2025, DORC will be endorsing candidates for NYC Comptroller, NYC Public Advocate, & NYC Mayor.

As there are many candidates for each office, & there may not be a majority (50% of the quorum) to endorse one single candidate, President Paul Casali explained that DORC can & has done “ranked choice endorsements” in the past.

President Paul Casali explained ranked choice voting. Ranked choice voting is available for all city elections.

We do not have to do ranked choice endorsements. (Further discussion?)

       P. Casali brought up the point, for further discussion perhaps, if local & state candidates do not make time to come to talk to DORC, do we not endorse them?

We have not had any mayoral candidates speak to DORC nor ask for endorsement. Working on this.
