President Waldmann called the meeting to order at 8:15 pm via Zoom.

It was reported that the Board of Elections did not allow Allison Ziogas to withdraw her objections against Mike DeCillis even though she suspended her campaign.

The court allowed Mr DeCillis to get back on the ballot.

Allison Ziogas is still on the ballot for the June primary even though she suspended her campaign for Congress in NY 11.

Agenda for Monday May 18th meeting

President Waldmann wants to discuss encouraging all the Staten Island Democratic Clubs to endorse Mike DeCillis for Congress in NY 11.

She also wants to have our club endorse the re-election of Senator Scarcella-Spanton (23rd
Senate District).

Paul Scublinsky added that we should also
endorse the re-election of Tom DiNapoli for NYS Comptroller.

There was also discussion about inviting Senator Scarcella-Spanton to our next meeting. Since the NYS senate is still in session Senator Scarcella Spanton has agreed to appear virtually.

President Waldmann asked Paul S to help her with logistics to facilitate the virtual meeting.
She also suggested that the Senator send a representative to our meeting if in case we have technical issues.

President Waldmann asked if Executive Committee members were on board with endorsements for the candidates mentioned.

The plan is for someone to make a motion,
allow for discussion and vote.

President Waldmann mentioned that only DORC members in good standing can participate in the endorsement vote.

We need a majority  50% plus one to vote.

President Waldmann plans to ask Joann Olbrich (Membership Chair) about how many paid members we have.

President Waldmann also announced that she plans to open nominations for club Treasurer at the May meeting and we will vote at the June meeting.

President Waldman reported that she spoke to Gabby Lerner (County's Executive Director)
about the fact that we want to hold a fundraiser on October 1, 2026.  It will be geared towards celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the USA and to celebrate democracy.

President Waldmann asked Teresa to make a "Save the Date" announcement that we can distribute.

There was discussion about several venues including One Edgewater and The Historic Old Bermuda Inn.

After discussion it was decided that the Historic Old Bermuda Inn would be a better choice for the upcoming event.

Ronnie mentioned that she will contact the venue to see if the October 1st date is available.

Marie mentioned that in the past the Dems have held events there and that John Vincent Scalia has been very good working with the Dems.

Joe Sicilian agreed and he suggested that we plan to have hors doeuvres and buffet stations.

He also suggested that we set a time limit for speeches because we want to create a party atmosphere.

Joe also suggested we hire a DJ and said he would contact DJ Thriller to check pricing and availability.

Marie also mentioned that she has a good contact with a DJ. President Waldmann mentioned that if the DJ suggested doesnt work that we can explore other ideas.

There was discussion about honoring people that have made significant contributions to Staten Island.  We also hope the prospective honorees will bring other people to the event.

Ronnie reminded Executive Club members  that she has an entire plan for the event.
The plan includes ideas for various awards and ideas for the recepients.

Ronnie told members she would re-send the fundraiser plan that she created.

There was discussion about having members dress up in period costumes and about information stations around the room.

President Waldmann plans to provide County with information about the event once we have date locked in at the venue.

President Waldmann asked Paul to speak to Senator Scarcella Spanton about appearing via Zoom and also  sending a representative to our meeting next Monday.

President Waldmann mentioned she can bring her 17" laptop to the meeting to set up for the virtual appearance. Ronnie also volunteered to bring her Bose Blue Tooth speaker.

Paul agreed to help President Waldmann set up the laptop for the Zoom.

President Waldmann mentioned that she purchased new purple colored raffle tickets for the 50/50.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:06 pm

Respectfully Submitted,

Marie Dwyer .
Recording Secretary
