Subject: DORC Exec Meeting April 18th via zoom
President Waldman called the meeting to order at 12:05 pm via Zoom.

Exec members attending
Barbara Waldmann, Marie Dwyer, Ronnie Gambon, Teresa Halhbrehder, Liz Price, Paul Scublinksky, and Joe Sicilian

President Waldmann apologized to Executive Committee members that didn't received the
Zoom link via email.

She also thanked VP Joe for conducting the March meeting in her absence. She also thanked all the Exec Committee members for all their help.

Old Business

President Waldmann reported that the Club opened a new PO box and she tried to send a letter and the Post Office claims it didnt receive it.  We are not receiving mail at the PO Box and the Post office doesnt know the reason. President Waldmann is planning to send another letter to P.O.Box to test it.

Liz Price suggested that President Waldmann eliminate the "Waiting Room" for the Zoom Executive Committee Meetings since the meetings are small and so Exec members can easily access the meeting.

Treasurer's Report Update

President Waldmann reported that Steve Schwall will continue to fill in as Treasurer since Dean Curry has stepped down.
Changes to account signatories are ongoing.

Steve will also handle the Act Blue account which members can use to pay dues.

President Waldmann reported that County was in touch with her to request our monthly meeting information.

Old Business

President Waldmann reported that speakers for the April 20th meeting are Mike DeCillis
Congressional Candidate for NY 11 and
Alexis Rodriquez Candidate for 24th Senate District.

President Waldmann mentioned that Alexis asked her to provide 3 issues that the Club would like her to address.

Executive Committee members mentioned
The status of ICE on Staten Island,
Transportation Issues
and where Alexis stands on proposals for the
Millionaires Tax and also the Mayor raising property taxes.  Property Tax Evaluation and Tax assesment.

Liz mentioned that since  taxes are complicated and discussion may get heated that we get an appropriate speaker to discussion the topic at length at a future meeting.

President Waldmann feels we should allow Alexis to speak briefly on the issue and also agrees we should get an expert from the Mayor's Office to discuss taxes at a future meeting.

President Waldmann reported that she has requested that the Mayors office send a speaker for our meeting and has not received a response. Joe Sicilian suggested that Barbara send a letter to the Mayor's Office stating that we are asking for a speaker because we want an expert.

New Business

President Waldmann reported that Ronnie had a great idea for our club fundraiser.
She asked Ronnie to explain in more detail to Executive Committee members

Ronnie mentioned that this year will be the 250th Anniversary of our Country.
She suggested that in light of this we have a fundraiser to tie into the 250th Celebration and Defender of Democracy Awards.

Ronnie reported that she has a very detailed plan for this fundraiser.

She already has ideas, names of various awards and names of people that she suggests as the recepients for these awards.

She mentioned including historic trivia and a reading of the preamble of the Declaration of Independence and asking someone to dress up in period costume to read it.

Ronnie is proposing this event as a kick off to other events both locally and Nationally.

There was discussion about dates

President Waldmann told members that she wants to check county's calendar so that our event doesnt conflict with other events.

There was discussion about holding the event before July 4th or possibly holding event on Sep 30th, Oct 1 or 2nd

When date is figured out we will need to send Save the Dates out.

Due to the fact that there could be a primary
Paul Scublinksky suggested a congressional debate with candidates from NY 11 to be held via Zoom.

President Waldmann said that on Monday, she would ask Mike DeCillis if he is amenable to debate and if he agrees then she will contact
Allison Z 's campaign on Tuesday.

Paul said we will need a moderator for the debate and that person will take pre-submitted questions and post on zoom.

President Waldmann mentioned that if we hold the debate she will work with Paul to do a test run.

Paul suggested that the debate be held on May prior to the start of early voting.
The primary will be held on June 23rd

The meeting was adjourned at 1:07 pm

Respectfully submitted

Marie Dwyer
Recording Secretary
