June meeting

President Waldmann announced that we have our wonderful guest speaker for the June meeting, David Nir. He will speak about the upcoming Mid Term elections.

She also mentioned that County maintains a calendar of events for the various Democratic Clubs on Staten Island.

At the June meeting we will also hold election for a new club Treasurer and hold an endorsement vote for several candidates

President Waldmann we vote by secret ballot for the endorsement vote.

President Waldmann mentioned that she will get an accurate list of candidates running from county to use to prepare the paper ballots.

It was discussed that even though Allison Ziogas suspended her campaign for Congress in NY 11 her name will appear on the ballot for the Primary.

President Waldmann plans to include Allison Ziogas name on the ballot she gives members for the endorsement vote but she will tell members prior to voting that Allison is not actually running for NY 11.

Mike DeCillis is the only candidate running for Congress in NY 11.

Exec member Liz Price, is protesting the fact that Allison's name is on the DORC ballot.

Upcoming DORC fundraiser

The Executive Committee discussed plans for the DORC fundraiser  "Defenders of Democracy"

Fundraiser with theme for 250th Birthday of USA.

President Waldmann told members she secured our reservation for October 1st at the Historic Old Bermuda Inn. We still need to give the venue a check for the deposit.

President Waldmann reported that we can have a buffet if the number of guests doesn't exceed 200 people.  If over 200 people we would have a sit down dinner.

Price for sit down dinner depends on what we choose.

The menu doesnt have to be decided now
We will discuss in more detail in a few weeks

There are many options. President Waldmann spoke to staff at the Old Bermuda Inn and said they are reasonable and accommodating.

Final head count must be given to the restaurant 1 week before the event.

There was a discussion about ticket prices.

The journal was discussed with possibility of size 8.5 x 5.5 with 32 pages.

Some of the pages will be reserved for the honorees and then a great deal for ads.

Teresa suggested selling DORC coffee mugs at the event. President Waldmann felt that it would be more appropriate to sell mugs at DORC meetings.

President Waldmann told members she wants to hold another Executive Committee meeting in two weeks.

She mentioned that she needs everyone to help solicit ads for the event journal.

There was discussion about having a 50/50
and raffling off gift baskets.

President Waldmann plans to ask SIDA about suggested prices for journal ads.

Honorees

President Waldmann mentioned that she has to find out more about the honorees suggested by Ronnie Gambon.

There was discussion about a special award for someone on Staten island with a great reputation on Si and in the city. More to follow

There was discussion about using period art work and putting name of award and recepients name.  Theme is 250 birthday of USA.

Ronnie feels that honorees will bring in people

Joe S wants to limit number of honorees

President Waldmann discussed introducing award recepients and having each go to receive award with photos taken.

President Waldmann wants to eliminate speeches and focus on a historic celebration.

Ronnie has suggested 6 awards plus a special award.
President Waldmann told Executive Conmittee members she appreciates everyone's help.

Again she mentioned holding another Exec Committee meeting in two weeks prior to June 15th General meeting

The meeting was adjourned at 851 pm

Respectfully Submitted
