Youcan apply in person at any of the National Driver Licence Service (NDLS) centres nationwide. You must book an appointment to attend an NDLS centre in person. There is no walk-in service available, but you may apply online on our website at NDLS Online. Once processed your licence/permit will be issued to you by post. Alternatively, you can call 0818 919 090 to book an appointment.

Application forms are no longer required. However, if you wish to make your application in Irish you need to complete an Irish application form. Your photograph and signature will be captured electronically at the NDLS centre.

Please note the evidence of your address can be no more than 6 months old at date of application. The address on the proof of address document you present must exactly match the address on the application form. Please check this before you attend the NDLS centre as if they do not match exactly, even if it is a misspelling, it cannot be accepted and may lead to your application being rejected.

If you do not have a PSC you are required to present documentation at the NDLS Centre to satisfy 1. Photo ID, 2. Evidence of PPSN, 3. Evidence of Address, 4. Evidence of normal residence - see above for a list of acceptable documents for each.

In some cases the same document may satisfy more than one requirement e.g. an Irish/EU passport is adequate as photo ID & proof of residency entitlement; a letter to you from Revenue which shows your PPSN could be used as both proof of your address & proof of your PPSN.

If your name is different now from that shown on your birth certificate, you must also provide original documentary evidence to confirm your change of name - for example: marriage certificate, decree absolute or decree nisi papers, deed poll or statutory declaration. The evidence you provide must show a clear link between the name on your identity document and your current name.

The driving licence fee includes return of your supporting documents (where applicable) by second class post. If you would like your supporting documents returned by secure delivery, provide a suitable pre-paid Royal Mail Special delivery envelope.

If you are exchanging a licence other than a licence issued in Great Britain, or you have previously been resident outside Northern Ireland and wish to apply for a provisional licence, you must provide DVA with proof of residency.

Your document must be dated within the last three months, immediately preceding the date of your application for an exchange or provisional driving licence. The document supplied must also be in your name and show your Northern Ireland address.

We are receiving an exceptionally high volume of new driver applications which are being dealt with in date of application order. When applying you must provide all the required documentation your application will be rejected unless you upload all the required documentation when you apply.

We cannot commit to a specific processing time for your application. Please be aware of this before you apply for a licence in Knowsley. We are currently dealing with complete applications received on:

Completed applications are applications which include the application form along with all the requested evidence stated within the webpage below. If you have not submitted all requested evidence at the time of applying, then the date you upload your final piece of evidence is the date your completed application was received.

After you have submitted your application, please do not contact us. We will contact you by email using the email address provided as part of your application. Please remember to check your junk/spam folders. If you wish to change the email address provided, please complete a change of details form to provide your new email address.

Repeat contact will only delay how quickly we can process applications.

Please ensure the documents as listed below are available and ready to upload before applying for a licence. Any missing documents or incorrect information will delay the processing of your application.

If you have convictions or relevant matters, you must check the periods applied to offences thoroughly; if you breach the policy, you will not be refunded if we follow the policy and refuse to grant a licence. No conviction is ever spent for private hire driver applicants as a Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order applies - all offences must be disclosed. Any failure to disclose can be a reason to refuse a licence.

National Government Statutory Guidance now requires all taxi and private hire Licensing authorities to check applications against a National Register. Applicants are asked if they have ever had a licence refused or revoked.

If you become a New York State resident, you must get a New York State driver license within 30 days. If you have a valid driver license issued by another U.S. state or territory, federal district or Canadian province, you may be eligible to exchange it for a New York driver license (see Exchange an out-of-state license), or see other information about moving to New York.

If your license was issued outside the U.S. or Canada, you must apply for a new original New York State driver license at a DMV office (see Get a driver license). When you pass your road test, you must give your foreign driver license to the DMV road test examiner.

As used in this section, the term "resident" shall mean domiciliary, that is, one who lives in this state with the intention of making it a fixed and permanent abode. It shall be presumptive evidence that a person who maintains a place of abode in this state for a period of at least ninety days is a resident of this state.

To live in a house, a home, an apartment, a room or other similar place in New York State for 90 days is considered "presumptive evidence" that you are a resident of New York State. A police officer can use this as evidence to issue a traffic ticket if you drive in New York State without a New York State driver license or vehicle registration.

A judge considers the law and the evidence of your intent and decides if you are a resident of New York State. If you pay taxes or your children attend school in another state, a judge considers these facts to decide if your intent is to make New York a "fixed and permanent" residence. According to this law, students from other states or from other nations who attend school in New York State are usually not considered residents of New York. DMV does not decide if you are a resident of New York State, if you must get a New York State driver license, or if you must register your vehicle in New York State.

If you have a driver license from any nation, you do not need a New York State license to drive here. You should only apply for a New York State driver license if you become a resident of New York State.

If you do not have a license in your home country and want to get a New York State driver license, you must pass a written test, complete a 5-hour pre-licensing course and pass a road test. See Get a driver license.

You cannot exchange out-of-state permit for a New York State permit. You must apply for a New York permit at a DMV office if your out-of-state learner permit does not allow you to drive in New York State.

A resident visa is a permanent visa or special category visa under the Migration Act 1958 (Commonwealth). These visas allow a person to stay indefinitely in Australia. These do not include temporary, business or guardian visas.

You do not have to complete a driver licence application form when visiting a transport and motoring customer service centre. You will need to complete a driver licence application (F3000) at police stations and most QGAP offices.

Your authority to drive on your interstate or overseas licence will be withdrawn when you have been issued with a Queensland licence. This means you can no longer drive with your interstate or overseas licence in Queensland.

Your Queensland licence will be the same class as your interstate or overseas licence. It will include any conditions that were listed on your interstate or overseas licence unless you provide documentary evidence that we can remove the conditions.

If your interstate licence is current, you must pay the interstate licence transfer fee. The unexpired period left on your interstate licence will be transferred to your Queensland licence (to a maximum of 5 years). You can also choose to pay a fee to add additional time to your new Queensland licence.

If your interstate licence expiry date is within 12 months and you choose to give up the unexpired period, the interstate licence transfer fee will be waived. You will only pay the Queensland licence fee for the term of your choice (1 to 5 years). The unexpired period of your interstate licence will not be transferred to your Queensland licence.

You can talk with your family and friends to help you complete PrepL online, but there are serious penalties if you have someone else do the course for you. If you can't complete the PrepL course online, we can arrange for an interpreter or a staff member to help you with a written car, motorcycle or heavy vehicle road rules test in one of our licence-issuing offices .

If you have a valid non-expired out-of-state license, you are eligible to transfer the license. If the out-of-state license is expired, you are required to take all examination tests, vision, written, and road skills examination(s) before making application for a driver's license. You are required to pass a vision screening, complete a brief alcohol awareness course, and surrender your out-of-state license before a WV license will be issued. A transfer applicant must present all documents that are required. If you have a motorcycle endorsement on your license, the Division will transfer the endorsement for an additional fee of $5.00.
