They were the looks seen round the world: Margot Robbie in a mini black-and-white Herv Lger bandage dress, cat-eye sunglasses across her face; Robbie in a fuchsia pencil skirt and matching blazer, a crystal-bedecked Judith Leiber cell-phone clutch in tow; Robbie wearing a ruffle-hem Emilio Pucci dress, long crimped hair cascading down her back. Each look, styled by Andrew Mukamal for the Barbie press tour, defined modern method dressing. Now the internet-breaking fashions are being immortalized in Barbie: The World Tour, a coffee-table book by Mukamal and Robbie, out March 19 from Rizzoli.
Robbie: What impressed me most was how much research Andrew did. His ideas were insane, but they all came from the Barbie archives and his research. It never felt like we were being too crazy because it was all rooted in something real.
Mukamal: Yeah, we were thinking about that. For a city like New York, we were like, What would look cool if you get papped on the street? And [the Carolina Herrera team] killed it. They made all the jewelry custom too.
Mukamal: [We] were going to go to Tokyo, and we were like, Maybe it would be really cool to show up there and be still serving full-on Barbie but in a more elevated and chic way. This Miu Miu is very Miuccia.
Mukamal: Gigi Burris made an insane custom headband out of extra faux fur that we got from Miu Miu. And shout-out to Gigi, who made a lot of the beautiful headwear in the book. With some of these looks, you need an expert milliner like her, and there are not enough of them in the fashion industry.

Each type of book serves a different purpose or mood. Are we in the mood to laugh or cry? Is there an intention to learn something new? Books can bring clarity and focus. They can be inspirational and aspirational. Coffee table books are no different.
This single object can encompass a variety of conversation-starting topics from the history of the Porsche, to inspiring pictures of travel destinations. They are used as a display pedestal for an object of great, personal importance. These books are also simply read for entertainment. While their purposes are varied, the question remains: Are coffee table books still in vogue?
To me, a coffee table book is a little message to guests and a palette for the mistress of the home. Displayed on my coffee table, I have two beautiful books. One is a stunning collection of Warhol and the other of the master French painter Manet.
A woman has a right to be contradictory and so it is with style. You could have a sofa that is a daring statement piece and laid over the arm could be a casual throw designed for comfort. In dress, too, you can be a literal walking contradiction in a bold, brightly patterned dress paired with classic and simple heels. As mistress of your own personal style, you are empowered to do what pleases you. Be bold if that is your wish, or be demure.
Stacking a tableau of art, architecture and design books can make a room feel complete, especially for bibliophiles who feel secure in the knowledge that their books are close at-hand. Shelves and surfaces that feel naked, may well benefit from an artfully-arranged pile or at the very least, one striking tome to fill the void.
For some there is simply nothing more exciting than a well-stocked coffee table and the chance to leaf through pages of inspirational and aspirational imagery. Do your guests (and yourself, of course) a favour and invest in a variety of topical and timeless tomes to display with pride.
As a designer, Prabal Gurung has made a huge impact on fashion. Whether its receiving Ecco Domani Fashion Fund Award or releasing a Pokemon-inspired collection, Prabal's unique outlook on fashion and style has quickly set him apart from other designers over the past decade. Now, Prabal is adding "author" to his long list of accomplishments with a new coffee book, available now.
In regards to Prabal, SJP writes, "In a shot but labor-intensive and diligent ten years, Prabal has accomplished what so many young and emerging designers long for. A reputation wrapped in goodwill, great affection, and endless admiration from colleagues, fellow designers, and his customers...He has created not just any brand, but a luxury brand with a soul."
In addition, Prabal shares many memories throughout the book, explaining his favorite and most popular designs to readers including when he dressed former first lady Michelle Obama, as well as Oprah. According to the press release, the book is a celebration of inclusivity, which is very on brand for Prabal. He immigrated to the United states from Nepal in 1999, longing to study fashion and become a designer. And despite the odds, he made that happen, launching his own label in 2009.
Prabal became more widely known in 2017 when he included an array of feminist messages across his clothing on the runway, printing phrases like "This is what a feminist looks like," "Voices for Change," and "Stronger in Color" on his t-shirts. The designer has been a prominent voice for change within the fashion community, and this coffee table book is his next step in doing so.
