Their early work was characterized by complex song structures, elaborate instrumentation and the theatrical antics of Gabriel, who left the band in 1975. Collins left the band in 1996 and was replaced by Stiltskin vocalist Ray Wilson for one album, Calling All Stations. The band went on hiatus after that and reunited for several tours and live albums, most recently in 2021-2022 .
