Eleven years ago, I helped found Ricochet after a successful crowdfunder that raised $83K. From the outset, we sought to build a non-profit outlet that would invest in long-form and investigative journalism, remain fiercely independent of all political parties, and never shy away from the stories that need to be told. We've remained true to that founding vision.
Ricochet has broken stories, covered issues in-depth from coast to coast to coast, and created new jobs for journalists as the legacy media has been decimated by corporate consolidation and the insatiable greed of Silicon Valley’s billionaires.
And here’s the really good news: We can now offer tax receipts for donations to our journalism, just like when you make a charitable contribution.
Meta has been blocking links in Canada from news outlets like Ricochet for years now, so it's been a lot harder to spread the word about the journalism the team has been producing. But as a volunteer Board member, I'm blown away by the scale and quality of the work that has been done by our journalists.
