I'm sharing with you some devastating news. Ras Al Auja is under attack and a number of families have fled. The situation is volatile and changing every day. So far there have been no deaths, but all the members of one family were hospitalized from injured incurred during a settler attack. We have no update but it is plausible that the injuries sustained are non-life threatening.
Here is a message from Amira, head of mission, from Friday:
Yesterday, 20 families from Ras Ein al-Auja, a Palestinian Bedouin community north of Jericho, were forcibly displaced after years of settler violence repeated attacks on homes and property, restrictions on grazing lands, obstruction of water access, intimidation, and the persistent failure of the Israel, the occupying power, to provide protection. The establishment of a new settler outpost inside their community was the final straw.
They have written a letter to the international community calling urgently for protection. The families warn that those who remain, and those who have been displaced, continue to face serious and immediate risk. This is the 86th Palestinian community to face forcible displacement as a result of Israel’s coercive environment since 2023. 2025 marked an unprecedented crisis, with Palestinian communities subjected to 42 forced displacements, the highest on record
We share their letter with you now and ask you to read it, share it, and take action to raise awareness and support for the community to prevent further forcible transfer, end Israel's coercive environment, and allow the conditions for the community of Ras Ein Al Auja, and all forcibly transferred communities, to return to their homes.
Since then, more families have left while many families have stated that they will never leave. The UCPiP team, in consultation with community leaders, has decided to stay, and accompany those who remain.
Please share this far and wide. Ras Al Auja is the last remaining Bedouin community in the South Jordan Valley.
