Im trying to istall mysql server on a windows 7 machine - that has python 3.4.3 installed. However, when trying to install the python connectors for 3.4, the installer fails to recognize the python installation, saying python 3.4 is not installed.

Just to add to the murkiness, I had the same error with current version of MySql install when attempting with python 3.5 installed (which is the latest python download). Long story short, I uninstalled python 3.5, installed python 3.4.4 (which interestingly didn't update PATH so I updated it manually) and reran installer and it found the python installation.

From my experience if you have both Py2.7 and Py3.4 installed when installing the mysql connector for py3.4 you will run into this issue. Not sure of the WHY but for some reason if you have py2.7 installed, the py3.4 mysql connector recognizes that version first and just assumes that you have py2.7 installed and does not recognize that py3.4 is installed.

I was looking for an similar answer. The correct answer is that there is a bug in the mysqlconnector MSI. When python installs, it creates a registry entry under HKLM Software\Python\PythonCore\3.6-32\InstallPath however, the MSI for mysqlconnector is looking for installation path in the registry Software\Python\PythonCore\3.6\InstallPath as part of the RegLocator/registrypath variable.

Make sure you have the 64bit version of whichever version of Python you are running. It can be downloaded from here: had the same problem and this solved it for me. I also uninstalled all previous versions of Python before running the mysql setup

Next, go back to the installation style and select "Manual" instead of "Developer". They are identical, but "Manual" allows you to remove packages. Just remove the "Connector/Python" package from the list to be installed.

Sorry, I have the same observation as the OP. This page provides me a link where I shall find MSI installers for 32-bit edition and for 64-bit edition. But when I follow that link, I only see two MSI installers of 32-bit editions and none for 64-bit editions.

Thanks for the replies, I was able to work around it copying the download link from MySQL installer. No aversion to 8.0.23. but my understanding is that I need to go from 5.5->5.6.x->5.7->8.0 is that correct. It also appears to be time to learn how to use the Zip files to install which seems less messy than using the MSI when upgrading

I am on a Windows 7 64-bit Home Edition laptop. When I go to MySQL's website, I see two possible downloads for MySQL. Both say Windows (x86, 32-bit), MSI Installer and both say version 5.7.9 but one takes up 1.6M and the other takes up 370.5 M. Which one should I choose?

"If you have an online connection while running the MySQL Installer, choose the mysql-installer-web-community file.If you do NOT have an online connection while running the MySQL Installer, choose the mysql-installer-community file."

Thanks for your reply Matthias. Is it just a download manager that I need or is it optional if I have a constant online connection? Have you been through this installation? I am being overly cautious perhaps but I tried downloading some stuff for other Treehouse courses that ended up messing up some of my other installations (old Rails courses... phew! bad news! bad idea!). I don't want to leave anything to chance after having had to spend quite a bit of time repairing things.

I had this issue, and it turned out to be because I didn't have the .NET workload installed in Visual Studio. You need to either select it on installation, or re-run the installer, select 'modify', and then check it in the list of options.

2. "Check Requirements" screen: The installer checks if your pc has the requirements needed. If there is some failing requirements, click on each item to try to resolve them by clicking on the Execute button that will install all requirements automatically. Click "Next".

4. "Product Configuration" screen: See what products that will be configured. Click the "MySQL Server 8.0.23" option to configure the MySQL Server. Click the "Next" button. Choose the "Standalone MySQL Server/Classic MySQL Replication" option and click on the "Next" button. In page "Type and Networking" set Config Type to "Development Computer" and "Connectivity" to "TCP/IP" and "Port" to "3006". Then, click the "Next" button.

9. "Product Configuration" screen: See that the Product Configuration is completed. Keep the default setting and click on the "Next" and "Finish" button to complete the MySQL package installation.

You should be able to see a WAMP server icon at the system tray of your Windows PC taskbar. You should know that the WAMP server is working correctly if the icon is green. A red icon indicates an issue with Apache and MySQL and an orange icon is an indication of a problem with one of the services.

i think now you have an assurance that wamp server is installed by seeing that icon, start getting familiar how to use it, how to connect to the openmrs instance to capture the databases and all other related stuff. Another problem that you may be aware of is connections to mysql server to the sdk. sometimes when your mysql server is not running, you may encounter server issues.

But its always good to first google around , and unless things fail , then you come for help in the community , otherwise Mr Google is much more knowledgeable that any single individual on the planet

Note: When MySQL is removed using this method, only the installed components are removed. Any database information (including the tables and data), import or export files, log files, and binary logs produced during execution are kept in their configured location.

For the benefit of anyone else arriving here looking for the answer, here's a more generic means of locating it, especially if MySQL has been installed somewhere other than the default location (something I'm prone to do).

Searching each of the local drives for "mysql", which will locate both the program and data folders, as "mysql" forms part of the executable name, regardless of version, and there will always be a "mysql" table.

The log files may be in a different location altogether and the best way to locate those is through the config file, which on Windows will normally be named "my.ini". However, if someone has created this installation from source that file could potentially be called anything at all but that would definitely be an unusual case.

Ideally you should uninstall the conventional way (add/remove programs or whatever Microsoft has named it this week) first but if for some reason you're just going to delete everything don't forget to stop the MySQl service(s) first.

I have downloaded the mysql-installer-web-community-8.0.23.0, but when I go through the installation process, no products show up on the "select products" section. There's nothing wrong with my internet, and there doesn't seem to be anyone else having this problem. I'm not sure what to do at this point. Does anyone know why this might be happening and how to fix this?

Yes, I also faced the same issue. I've also tried offline-version of the installer and could not download mysql. So far I've spent half the day trying to find other means of installing it and I've just figured it out.

MOVES2014b is not compatible with the latest version of MySQL Server. To install MySQL Server 5.7, which is compatible with MOVES2014, go to the MySQL 5.7 InstallerExit page and download the "mysql-installer-community" file (the larger offline option). Do not download the smaller web option, which will install a newer version of MySQL Server that is not compatible with MOVES2014b. Execute the mysql-installer-community file and follow the onscreen prompts to install MySQL Server 5.7.

If you accidentally installed the newest version of MySQL Server while installing MOVES, the MOVES GUI will not be able to open, and will instead prompt you to enter database login credentials. If this happens, uninstall all products associated with latest version of MySQL (including the MySQL Installer). Next, install MySQL 5.7 using the larger offline MySQL installer, and then re-run the MOVES installer.

This article explains how we can run multiple instances of the MySQL Server on a single machine. In How to install MySQL database server 8.0.19 on Windows 10 article, I have explained the installation process of MySQL on windows 10. For the demonstration, I have installed MySQL 8.0.19 on my workstation. We can view the status of the MySQL Server using MySQL workbench. To view the server status, open MySQL workbench connect to the MySQL instance Click on Server Select Server Status.

In the Server Status tab, you can view the status of the MySQL instance and the configurations like the installed features, server directories, and real-time information of network consumption, memory used by the database engine, read-write per second, and select queries executed per second.

It is easy to install and configure multiple instances of SQL Server on the same machine. You can create multiple named instances and store the system database, and log files in separate directories. Once SQL Server instances are installed, you can connect them by specifying the HOSTNAME/INSTANCE name in the connection string of the application server or the SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
