MISSION

Meet other inspiring and motivated people in order to develop a good network in the social entrepreneurship world.  Do our best, but it is more important to have team solidarity then winning the contest.

PROJECT GOAL

·       Create an executable plan, focused on the clients that we can all be proud of.

·       Win with honor and overachieve with dignity!

·       Encourage our strengths and inspire learning and fun.

·       Place the success of our work over individual success (i.e. be committed to the best idea for the group, not the idea that you came up with).

·       Be respectful of deadlines

·       Done is better than perfect

COMMUNICATION

·       24 Response time on all communication, unless otherwise noted

·       Rotating note taker for each meeting, assigned by previous note taker if no volunteers

·       Be open on what you can or cannot commit to or execute or if you feel frustrated. Notify team if something inhibits your ability to contribute/complete a task.

·       Practice empathy and true listening

·       Use Googe Group and Doodle as our platform and email/text as additional communication methods

·       Pre– New York: Just have the meeting organizer decide and have phone tree to remind each other to join in.  TIME – after 6pm EST.

·       At the Institute, work together as a team– no team mate left behind!

DECISION MAKING

·       In a group of 7, no need for tie-breaker

·       Consensus decision-making

·       Defer to the person with the most experience relevant to the topic

·       Designate a point-person for each task who is responsible for getting it done.

CONFLICT

·       Acknowledge that disagreement and debate are both essential for coming up with the best possible solution--> As a result, encourage people to voice their concerns.

·       In the end, majority rules.

Great job Hsui! From a quick read, I did not notice any grammar/syntax/structural errors, so there's nothing for me to really edit. I like how you synthesized all our ideas.

Thanks!
Noor

I like it.  You did a fine job in my book.

I especially like the phone call/ text reminder idea- I'm saving your #'s now.

General question... Do we actually need to come up with a team name and slogan?

I received a notice today that we do need to have a team name. Not sure about team slogan. Examples from my institute. Our name was Team Hangout because we did most of our communication via google hangout. Another one that I remember is Team Epic Sandwiches not sure how that name came about.

Good Job on the draft. If a name is selected and no other changes to the draft are submitted I will be submitting by noon pacific time tomorrow.

One idea for possible team names is to base it on New York because that is where our institute will be. For example Apple Eaters or we could list our favorite places/places you want to see in NYC.

That way it can still reflect something we will have in common which will be NYC. Just an idea to get team names going.

How about since we're already "sic by mj" we choose a Michael Jackson song title as our team name?

Team Billy Jean? Team Thriller?

Quick question, under the section about deciding when we meet, it says it'll be decided by the meeting organizer. Who is that?

Also, how about: Team NY Thriller?

I like NY Thriller. Some other names I thought of are:

1. Ennovation - play on of words from entrepreneur and innovation
2. NY Starters
3. Synergistic Starters

Hi Guys, for the survey I have to credit Stephanie Austin for sending her team charter in 2012. I only had to do a few changes from her draft, it seems her team thought almost the same way we did.

There was a lot of call for the leader to just decide the meeting time, I nominate her for the pre-NY leader, because she always reply promptly. If she gets too busy, I can help.

Hi Hsiu,

In the spirit of continuing to reply promptly ;-)  I wanted to say that I'd be happy to take on a more leadery/administrative role during our days leading up to NYC...and Hsiu I appreciate your offer to jump in!

I'll only do so if the rest of the team is fine with it. I'd see my role as someone who: sets up weekly calls, checks in with folks about assigned tasks, helps facilitate discussions and makes sure we are as prepared as we can be for NY while following the plan we all created. Things like that.

Hey! Lets test out our Charter's decision making section: Anyone want to voice any comments/questions/objections in the next 24 hours?

Also- Magen, any updates on the case competition info drop date? I think knowing when we'll know will help us plan, ya know? :)

Have a great Friday, everyone!.

Info for Case competition. There is a call this Sunday evening that Konrad will be on and taking notes for. I do not know if he will need time to type up notes before sharing. So I think we have to take a lead from Konrad. But we should have a call sometime next week after Sunday evening.

Stephanie- I'm in favor of you taking on those responsabilities as a communications liason who manages task and sends reminders.  We can decide specifics for the role when we meet next- This job seems like it may replace the idea in our Charter Draft about us having a phone tree to send out messages+ reminders.
