Because so many of you have been praying for me as the time for surgery approached, now that it a fact of history, not a question in the future, it is time to praise the Lord with me. All went well yesterday, so I am rejoicing in so much better vision today.
As the vision in my previously damaged vision in the right eye caused by death of the small blood vessels around that optic nerve has seemed to be worsening, it was especially concerning to be facing cataract surgery on the left eye, since surgery
is known to sometimes cause the NAION to strike that optic nerve, too. How I praise and thank the Lord that that has not happened.
The second concern was the double vision I was having previously, when I tried to wear glasses with the correct prescription in each lens. As the eye doctor expected, having the cataract removed has allowed the left eye to assert the dominance it desires; and, as far as I can tell one day post-surgery, the right eye is quite happy to relinquish the position of most important eye and slide its image precisely under the one seen by the left eye.
With more healing time providing even better vision, I don't expect to even need to wear glasses, except for reading small print. As I type this on the computer keyboard, I'm thanking the Lord that my present mid-vision is working fine for computer work, too. Guess that means the Lord wants me to continue the challenge of completing the Siawi Revelation Bible lessons editing, as requested by the church elders.
Speaking of the Siawi Bible Church's elders, I'm waiting with hopeful expectation for a spate of letters......or at least one or two...from said leaders. With the gathering of the various evangelical churches in their upper Sepik region completed and everyone, including the missionary representative from our mission, who attended the gathering returned to their homes, I'm hoping John will have at least a few letters in hand to make digital copies of and attach them to an email for me. That will take a bit of time, though, since he'll also have to catch up with all the other ministry responsibilities that awaited him on his return (as well as spare a bit of time for his family!).
So no news on that front at the moment, but if John was able to get answers to some of the questions I suggested his asking the Siawi delegation at the gathering, maybe the next Siawi Snippets might actually contain Siawi snippets of news.
Thank you so much for standing with both the Siawi believers and me in prayer, encouragement and/or financially. You have meant a lot to this team tool used by the Lord to further the outreach of his Word to the unreached.
Safe in His hands,
Linda
