With the first step toward the needed cataract surgery on my left eye completed, it is time to update you as you've so faithfully been praying.
Interestingly, it wasn't my left eye's cataract that concerned Dr. Perez, my ophthalmologist, but the condition of the right eye, which had suffered damage in 2006 from the death of some of the small blood vessels surrounding the right optic nerve (NAION).
What I had hoped was just the re-formation of film on the replacement lens from my 2014 cataract surgery on that eye isn't. Instead of an easily zapped-clean lens, there are indications of further damage to the optic nerve. If it is the small blood vessel disease rearing its untreatable head again, there isn't really anything to be done. My dry eye problems can complicate matters even more, since dry eye can also produce hazy vision.
The good news is that eye, while it has been the one that has been providing me with 20/40 vision while my left cataract got thicker and thicker (not surgically removed previously because of the danger of the optic nerve on left side suffering from the same problem as the right's), while the right has been standing in as my "good" eye, that title can hopefully be handed over to the healthy left eye once it is minus the cataract.
The date is set-July 25th and all the preliminary and post surgical appointments scheduled. I'm in the process of working out the transportation for all of these doctor visits.
Your prayers will be appreciated throughout this process. While there are a number of complications that could happen, none can pass through the Lord's protective barrier unless He allows it. My personal ideal result would be to end up with 20/20 vision in the left eye and 20/40 in the right. That may or may not be the Lord's planned ideal. You can be praying that I'll accept the Lord's ideal with joy, no matter what it is.
Again, thank you so much for so faithfully stand with me through thick and thin, rejoicing at the victories and supporting through the challenges. I DO appreciate you!
Together for His glory and honor,
Linda
