Basic Windows stuff. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Evernote\Evernote and find Evernote.exe. Right click and choose 'send to desktop' (create shortcut). If you then right click the new icon you may be able to 'pin to start' or drag and drop the shortcut elsewhere.
I tried your idea already but I just get a generic Windows icon rather than the true Evernote icon. Please note, this is not a major problem and does not affect usability. It's just odd and my orderly mind would like it fixed.
Hmmn. It works for me... maybe that shortcut needs to be used so that the correct icon 'registers' with Windows. You could try uninstall / restart / reinstall to fix the issue, but if its no big deal, that seems an extreme response...
I'm getting the same issue and Daniel (Win10). About 2 updates ago the icon in the dock turned into a blank document icon. I was hoping the new update that just got pushed would update it. No luck. I'll uninstall and I guess that should correct it.
Hi. I'm also on Windows 10 but no icon issues - have you tried deleting the icon and recreating it by dragging the correct one from the start menu? There's now a 6.8 GA version (as of 12 December). I'd suggest the following:
anybody figure this out yet? i am having the same issue. I have a utility that rebuilds all the icons yet evernote still is blank. And yes I tried to drag from start menu but that one is blank as well.
I have the same problem as well. I cannot remember when it happened but Evernote now uses the Adobe Acrobat Reader icon seemingly everywhere. This includes the Desktop, the Start menu and the application list. Nothing I've tried has stopped this (Including updating to the latest version of Evernote). None of my other programs have this problem.
I've been having this problem for about a month now...
I followed the steps, and I've been able to correct the taskbar Evernote icon, however the Start menu Evernote icon is stubborn - it has stayed the same, no matter what i've done.
I've uninstalled everything, then reinstalled... And have only been able to solve the taskbar icon issue.
Hi. As you're a subscriber, and AFAIK this should not be happening, I'd suggest you check in with Evernote Support. My icons in both Start menu and Desktop folders have been permanent fixtures for as long as I can remember.
since last update, the elephant icon of Evernote is sitting in my menubar. I neither need nor use it there. But there is not option to remove it. Apps should come with such an option. Is there a way to remove it from the menubar or is it planned to include such option to the Evernote preferences?
This is so so so necessary. I can't believe that Evernote, that I pay premium service for for years, has such unintuitive, clutter-y choices in this latest update. PLEASE GIVE US THE ABILITY TO TURN OFF THE ELEPHANT ICON IN MENU BAR! I'm looking into Bartender but it's LUDICROUS to have to purchase a new application to switch off an icon of an app we pay premium membership to. The fact there is NO WAY TO SET PREFERENCES in this latest update is maddening.
Killing the simple "Evernote Helper" or the "Evernote Helper (GPU)" simply causes that these Helpers are restated automatically as a new process. Killing the "Renderer Helper" crashes the complete Evernote app. Moreover does it remove the icon from the menubar. ?
+1 All apps should have the option to remove icons from menu bar. Evernote is great but it's not one of my main apps that I need in the menu bar. I shouldn't have to download a third party app to do this. This is basic bad user experience.
After trying out the 10.11 version for 5 mins and noticing this unremovable elephant icon at menu bar, i deleted it and installed the Evernote Legacy version: -us/articles/360052560314-Install-an-older-version-of-Evernote
Evernote, please fix your app. No one needs evernote to be in the menu bar, it's superfluous. Not to mention unhelpful.
I'm a developer, and this is a super small programming problem, and it's causing a load of inconvenience. The fact that they have ignored this issue this long tells me they don't care about customers, they care about market share.
This is fine for the users who want to use it. For a lot of users, including me, the unnecessary Evernote icon in the bar is just annoying. It would be desirable that you can disable this in the settings under macOS.
Helper is a generic term describing any type of assisting process of the app in the activity monitor. This does not help to identify the process. It might be the little icon in the menu bar, but I doubt it.
About the factual side: Many users like and use the menu bar icon - at least I do. A quick screenshot of a selection, for example. Or a note in a tiny window while having other things on the screen. The helper is part of the app, delivered with it. I give the option they completely remove it 0%.
Workaround: Get a menu bar manager app - any Mac user should run one. I use Bartender to keep my menu bar tidy, which costs a fee, others come for free. Problem solved, and not only for this tiny little icon, it arranges and hides any menu bar item.
I also would like to echo what many users have said: we need the option to remove the menu bar icon. I have discovered that I never have used it after all these years, but more than that, besides the additional clutter of all the other items up there (all the other items I do want), I find I keep getting mixed up with another menu bar icon that also is an elephant (MAMP, a web development server stack), and that one I do need.
I also never use the Evernote icon in the menu bar and might possibly toggle it off if there was an option for it. But if it really bothered me so much, then I would definitely start using Bartender again.
I used the legacy version on Mac before they made the horrible new one. It was a couple of years ago and man I had forgotten how good it was! Just installed legacy and everything is so much better. No elephant in my task bar, I can open many instances of the app, I can edit HTML in clipped notes without breaking the formatting etc. For real, legacy evernote is just like things are supposed to be! I'll never use the new versions again.
Good luck with it for as long as you can use it. It's end-of-life. Perhaps Evernote will implement a preference in v10 to not show the menu bar icon before legacy dies though. They've added quite a few user preferences in v10 this last year. One can hope.
Get yourself a menu bar manager (I use Bartender, that costs a dime), and decide which icons should always show, which on demand on a second level (popup menu strip below the notch) and which to avoid.
Sure, just read the thread: Get a menu bar manager (my choice is Bartender), and you can control for every single icon how it should show. Problem solved, not only for one single icon, but for the whole menu bar.
I have been an Evernote (paid) user since 2009. I found it very useful to have the main program of Evernote open when I single clicked the system tray icon with previous versions of Evernote. Now, it gives me a quick note which is utterly useless to me. There are no options/preferences/settings I can find to change this, so I purchased a "minimize window to tray" program to restore that capability, but I want to get rid of the little white useless evernote icon in the system tray. Any ideas?
Using Web Clipper on Firefox is pretty straightforward, when I am on a page that I want to save all or part of I simply click on the Web Clipper icon and am then prompted to select what I wish to save and which Evernote Folder to file it in.
Not only do your Evernote Reminders appear in Remember The Milk, but there's a handy Evernote icon on each one that opens the related Evernote Note. In our web app, clicking the icon will pop up the Note. While in our mobile apps, tapping the icon will take you straight to the Note in the Evernote app.
This open source icon is named "brand evernote" and is licensed under the open source CC BY 3.0 license. It's available to be downloaded in SVG and PNG formats (available in 256, 512, 1024 and 2048 PNG sizes).
It's part of the icon set "Pixellove Brand Icons", which has 500 icons in it.
If you need this icon available in another format, it should be pretty straight forward to download it as an SVG image file, and then import it into apps like Figma, PicMonkey, RelayThat or Stencil. Converting it to an ICO, JPEG or WebP image format or file type should also be pretty simple (we hope to add that feature to Iconduck soon).
This icon can be used for both Personal & Commercial purposes and projects, but please check the license to see if the designer is requesting attribution (for example, a link back to their website).
Evernote is a handy application that is used by many of our customers to record notes, photos, and other important information about their clients and projects. With Insightly's Evernote integration, you can find and import your Evernote items directly from your Insightly records. In each record's Notes subtab, you can click the Evernote icon to search and link to your Evernote items.
To enable or disable the connection to your Evernote account, click Profile icon > User Settings > User Settings and scroll down to Connected Applications Settings for the link to enable or disable the connection. If you disable the integration, Insightly will still retain your stored notes, but you will not be able to add new ones from Evernote.
