TheFitness Trainer Technician program at Lake Region State College includes both theory and practical application and is designed to provide students with the skills, knowledge, and training required to work as a personal trainer. The program is available online to maximize access and flexibility for students. It also offers marketable skills for employment opportunities and foundation courses and general education coursework for transfer into a baccalaureate degree.
Students in the Fitness Trainer Technician program have the best of both worlds. With faculty in the profession, students enjoy a program that blends both classroom theory and real-world experience. The last semester of the program is spent in the community putting their knowledge to work. Students also learn how to create business and marketing plans should they decide to start his/her own business in the fitness industry.
The Fitness Trainer Technician lab is equipped with top-of-the-line diagnostic equipment. Students who complete the Fitness Trainer Technician program enter the workforce or transfer to a university to continue studies in fields of athletic training, exercise science, kinesiology, physical therapy, or other related fields.
Anyone else uses it? I have BirdieBall 12 foot mat which is awesome but kind of got bored from putting on it. I bought this Puttout gizmo on Amazon. It was like 20 bucks so I figured why not try it.
Alright, so I have been using this toy for almost 2 weeks. I would say, I probably putt about 100-150 times per day. I have it setup on my BirdieBall matt and just do few putts from 5 feet and 8 feet through out the day.
So far, I noticed a big improvement. It's very difficult to make a perfect putt, but I noticed that the more I practice (DOH!), the ball is coming back to me straighter, vs, going to the right or left edge of the "hole".
I then tested my putting without the thing and noticed I was making a lot more putts on Birdie Ball matt hole. Also, my distance control drastically improved, because my misses don't go far behind the hole as they were before.
Overall, I think this thing will really help me with putting if I continue playing with it. it's been only 10 days with it, so I am looking forward to see more progress as time goes. I think good measurable would be to see increasing "perfect putts" made.
I have one and I like it too. I think it's helpful for getting used to choosing a smaller target than just the hole. If you get good at using this device the holes on the course will seem pretty big.
Later, I learned that actually it can (should?) be used to extend your putting surface, in that you want to ball to actually return to you and measure the consistency of the return, to capture the length of the total putt.
However, i find it also unrealistic having a matt so fast, compared to local greens averaging an 8, with grain. Otherwise, to take the gismo to the course is defeated by using the regular cups on the practise green, which still aren't matched in speed, or grass to the course ?
You got it right. The main object is to make the ball "stick" in the little hole on top of the ramp. If you do that, that means you made a perfect putt, with perfect speed and line. It's not easy and if you keep making them, then you are either very good at putting or not standing far enough.
The rate of ball return is approximately how far the ball would roll PAST the hole if you missed. On my Birdie Ball matt, which is fast, the worse the speed, the more ball comes back to me. I don't want that. I want the ball to stop as close to the hole as possible when it rolls back.
Taking it to the course would help by continuing practicing that "perfect putt" on the actual green surface. I guess you can also practice it by rolling putts into the hole with the goal of having them "drop" in the hole.
Hey @Shankapotimous, you should try out the latest training aide that PuttOut have come out with. It is called the Devil Ball. Really cool addition to use with your pressure trainer as well as just whilst you are on the putting green.
Do I need more "devil" in my putting? lol...I saw it, but didn't look into it how it works. Now that I am getting more solid with consistently hitting the ball and distance control by using Puttout, I might check out some additional aids. Thank you for the suggestion!
I also have the PuttOut mat and was wondering if anyone else was developing "channels" in the PuttOut mat. Any idea how to resolve that? They just suggest using your hand to brush out the imperfections, but I find the channels keep coming back.
loved this when using my small 7 foot mat. I used it so much I made a groove in the mat that made it easier to keep putts online, so I focused more on speed. My personal record was 8 in a row from 7 feet. Man, was my heart pumping after 5 in a row.
One game I liked to do was start 2 or 3 feet away and make one stick. Count how many putts it takes, then once you make it, move back a foot. See how many putts it takes to get all the way to the back of your mat, then try to beat that score!
Daaaayyyuummm! 8 in a row! WOW.. I am struggling on making them stick, but I have to be honest, I am concentrating more on making sure they go "in a hole". I use 10 balls and try to make as many in as I can, paying attention which way they go "in".
I think it's a super fun putting trainer. The pressure putt trainer I give a 5/5, but the mat I only give a 3/5 due to the grooving/grain issues. I also play a very similar game to the one @dmecca2 mentions, starting at 2 feet and going back to 6 (I have the 8 foot mat). I did get wildly frustrated one time when I stuck the first putts I hit from 2, 3, 4, and 5 feet, and then took like 30 attempts to get the 6 footer to stick ?
Man you are right how addicting this is. I got one after reading this thread. I already have a 12ft BirdieBall green and I've had the Puttout matt for a while. My current set up is I have the puttout matt on one side of the BirdieBall green. For the matt I have a 3 ft metal ruler in the middle that I start my putts on so I know the groove isn't influencing the roll (at least the first three feet). I have a putting disc I'll move and putt down with the outside lines also to vary it up.
After reading this thread I ended up getting the Puttout premium to add some variety and fun to my practice. I use it on the BirdieBall green, not the matt. I already love that thing. The three dots really help my aiming and I'm almost shocked how accurate I've gotten when my target is so laser focussed (roll it just right of the middle dot at speed and I have a great chance at the perfect putt). And that feeling when you are going for your record and you hit just the right speed and location and it rolls up, sticks for just a fraction of a second, before popping out. Falling to your knees like you just missed the putt to win the Masters.
lol, I know! It makes it much more enjoyable to practice. I have the older version, but I might get the updated one. The new version has a hole on the top where you can put an alignment stick and use that as a line. Pretty clever.
I went little closer to the gizmo and now concentrating on making those perfect putts. Before, I would practice at about 8-9 feet away and just wanted to make the putts in. Last I tried, I made 90 putts using 3 balls, so I gave up because it was just too much lol. Need a new challenge.
With that said, I have a huge dilemma. You could say, First World Problem. For past couple years, my putter was Odyssey EXO-7. It's a great putter and it was my first "real" putter. I did good with it, usually 34 putts per round, with one time getting super hot and having 24 putts. Everything was perfect that day on the green for me. Anyways, I always wanted Scotty Cameron, and for some reason, I wanted a blade putter. Maybe because I tried one and it just felt nice. So I got one. It is so different than EXO putter. The feedback is, well...apparent. lol. With EXO putter, I don't know if I missed it or what, but the ball would always come out nice and soft off the face. With Scotty, it's harsher, but I love the way I can better judge my backswing with it. So, I've been practicing mostly with SC, and getting better. But, once in a while, I grab EXO putter and make those "perfect putts"! I am so conflicted because part of me wants to continue with SC because I spent money on it and I do love how it feels in my hands, but, sometimes I feel like putts are lot easier with EXO. I make both of them in, probably at the same rate. I tested it on the course, and at first, I had 44 putts with SC! Horrible! I was crushed! But, once I used it more, my numbers went down to my usual 33-36 putts per round.
I compare it to driving a classic 1960's Camaro to newer, current era Camaro. Classic, looks great, feels like you are the one with it....it's just looks good...that's Scotty Cameron Newport putter...but.. with new Camaro.. it's smooth, it works...it goes fast...but it lacks "soul" and that feeling...that's Odyssey EXO putter lol
