Hello All,

I have the opportunity to buy software for appointment scheduling, sign in, and assessment for my tutoring center. I know about TutorTrac and AccuTrac, but I am not sure which is better. Does anyone have a strong opinion either way? Any positive or negative experience? Are there any other programs I should know about?

One thing to keep in mind is that my tutoring center does not have a front desk worker right now. We have about 35 tutors who meet throughout the day, and they’re responsible for collected data from their students. Right now we use digital excel spreadsheets. I would like to step it up several notches.

Thank you!

Hello!

I am currently using WC Online, which is especially useful for writing centers but can be adapted to other tutoring centers. WC Online is very streamlined compared to AccuTrack and TutorTrac. If you consider accessibility and ease of use more important than highly detailed data, WC Online is probably the best choice. On the other hand, if you're interested in something highly flexible with extremely detailed data, both AccuTrack or TutorTrac seem to outperform WC Online.

Yes, WC Online has a license fee of $715/year and no additional costs. The yearly fee includes full customer service and support, which is purchased separately for some other softwares (TutorTrac for sure). This is my first semester using WC Online, but my colleague who runs our writing center has been using it for several years now, and we have both had very positive experiences with their customer support.

WCOnline appears to be very reasonably priced when compared to the other contenders. Is it indeed only $715 per year?

Elisha,

At Muskegon Community College, my tutors are responsible for getting students to sign in and out of Tutor Trac.  I have about 30 tutors working for me.  Therefore, I think our situations are similar.  This fall was our first semester using it.  It has been successful.  In my opinion, I think Tutor Trac would work for your school.  I have never used Accu Track.  If you have any questions, please let me know.

Elisha,

One of the most comprehensive programs I've seen is GradesFirst. It was started as a program specifically for athletic support programs, but it may be worth a try to ask about campus-wide tutoring programs.

GradesFirst is very user-friendly and there are many easy options for assessment. I currently use the software as a tutor and it is seamless from the student-perspective. There are reminder emails that can be sent to tutors and tutees as well.

Another program to consider.
