Colorado State University in Fort Collins is excited to announce we are hiring an additional Learning Assistant (LA) Program Coordinator. The Learning Assistant Program is similar to SI in that peer educators who have successfully completed historically difficult classes serve as peer educators. One big difference from SI, however, is that LAs also help facilitate active learning during class sessions, in addition to holding review sessions outside of class. The Institute for Learning and Teaching at Colorado State University seeks applications for a Learning Assistant Program
Coordinator. Learning Assistants (LAs) are undergraduate students who, through the guidance of weekly preparation sessions and a pedagogy course, facilitate discussions among groups of students in a variety of classroom settings that encourage active engagement.
The successful candidate will join a current LA Program Coordinator to collaborate on the coordination and expansion of the campus-wide LA Program. Minimum qualifications include: a Master’s degree in higher education, counseling, adult education, or related
field; At least three years’ experience working in higher education; Experience effectively training, supervising and/or mentoring student staff; Ability to develop and maintain relationships with academic faculty and departments; Experience working with diverse
and underrepresented student populations.
