The Coordinator, Supplemental Instruction will coordinate all aspects of
academic support and programming associated with Supplemental Instruction, with the focus being on Perimeter College.
The coordinator ensures that critical actions of the Supplemental Instruction program take place in a timely
and efficient manner to support the academic success of the undergraduate students at Georgia State, and specifically at Perimeter College.
Examples of Duties
- Work with faculty at Perimeter College and all campuses to ensure the SI program operates efficiently
and effectively. Contact faculty about offering SI sessions and serve as primary liaison to faculty from the SI office and program. Encourage and facilitate faculty engagement with SI, responsible for communication with faculty about the development, implementation,
and assessment of SI. Handle any issues that arise between faculty and SI Leaders.
- Recruit and train 40+ SI Leaders every semester. Also train student leadership staff to train SI Leaders
at Perimeter College and oversee planning, development, and implementation of training programs university-wide for SI. Develop, maintain, and update policies and procedures of the SI program and for all student leaders working in the program. Evaluate and
provide feedback on the effectiveness of every SI Leader each semester.
- Assess and evaluate all aspects of the SI program on all campuses, including tracking of participation
and quality of SI support. Must have the ability to summarize and communicate assessments through reports each semester. This position is responsible for the maintenance of confidential student records about grades earned in courses and SI attendance.
- Program development and marketing of SI on all campuses. Positions are required to review academic records
to determine which courses and sections should be targeted for supplemental instruction. Must be an excellent representative of the program and be adept at marketing and presenting the program to increase awareness among students, faculty, and staff.
- Monitor and administer SI budgets.
- Supervisor of graduate and undergraduate student staff.
- Work effectively with campus partners and other offices to ensure effective administration of all aspects
of the SI program. Examples include knowledge of university HR policies and procedures for student hiring, working with unit business managers to ensure that student hiring is accurate and that students are paid in a timely manner. Be knowledgeable of university
scheduling procedures on all campuses and work with the Office of Scheduling to ensure effective and efficient placement of all SI sessions.
- Work with the Assistant Director of Supplemental Instruction to support initiatives
designed to facilitate the retention, progression, and graduation of Georgia State University students, specifically students at Perimeter College. Help with the further development of online academic support and other tutoring initiatives.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:
- Preferences will be given
to those with two (2) years of experience in providing direct services to students in a higher education environment.
- Experience working in a
Supplemental Instruction or tutoring program preferred
- Experience and knowledge
of academic success programs and university procedures
- Proficiency with web-based
applications
- Microsoft Office (spreadsheet,
database, and word processing)
- Student Information Systems with a strong orientation to detail
