I know the semester is wrapping up for many of us so I apologize for racking your brains on a Friday in December!
I’m looking for any responses regarding how you pay your SI Leaders…
How many of you pay your SI Leaders hourly? About how many hours per week do they get paid for? How much are they paid per hour? Do they get raises?
If you pay your SI Leaders a semester stipend, how much are they paid? How did you decide upon this amount or justify this amount?

Hi Kayte,
Our SI leaders are paid $9.00/hour for all time spent sitting in on lectures, holding office hours, and training (approximately 3-5 hours a week), and they are paid $12.25/hour for the actual SI review sessions (2 hours a week). They get raises ($0.25) for every year that they return to the same position within our department. We originally requested a stipend for SI leaders, but our university is trying to steer away from the use of stipends for student employees. We justified the $12.25/hour rate for the SI sessions based on the standard group peer tutoring rate used within the university’s larger Tutoring Center.
