Hello everyone!

I’d like to gather some feedback from the faculty who use SI support in their classes.  Questions about noticing changes in the classroom?  Increase in student confidence? Change in office hours?   I’d like to gather and report out on the faculty perspective in a more formal process rather than the normal “I love it” and “students benefit” informal comments I receive.  Does anyone have a faculty survey they can share??  Thank you!!

April,

Last Fall I did a faculty survey but it didn’t ask many of the questions you mention below. However, you might find it helpful in some ways. I have attached it.

Due to a dismal response on the faculty survey at the end of the semester, I decided to interview them halfway through the semester with some probing questions.  I plan to put all their responses into a data base and note the correlations.  These questions produced some interesting responses and got at the heart of the matter with some of the professors.  The most pronounced correlation was found with the question about the student leader meeting with faculty on a weekly basis, and asking if they saw that time as valuable.  Leaders connected with faculty who said that one-on-one time with the student leader was such a help to their teaching to have student feedback about what students were understanding and what they weren’t, had better attendance at the study sessions.  And of course, the question asking faculty for their “perception” of SI produced some revealing results.  This kind of interviewing takes time and courage.  But it is worth it, I’m finding.
