to Shrinking Fibroids Naturally
Good evening!

I was diagnosed with fibroids a year ago. I recently went in for my
annual well woman visit with my gyno and had my pelvic ultrasound
performed. We once again discussed my treatment options.
Hysterectomy. No way! Myomectomy. However my doc wants me to take
Lupron for 6 months prior to the myometocmy if that is the option I
choose. I try to avoid medication at all cost and what I have read
about Lupron doesn't appeal to me at all. and UAE. I dunno, from what
I have read that just seems like a short term solution to a long term
problem and thus doesn't appeal to me too much either. Especially when
1 in 5 woman experience their fibroids coming back.

Thus far I have opted the "do nothing" approach and keep up with
monitoring by having ultrasounds every 6 months. I am leery of
surgical intervention for a few reasons. One. It's surgery! Two. I am
currently having no real symptoms/problems caused by my fibroids other
than being anemic. I am taking iron supplements and working at
increasing my intake of iron rich foods. Three. I want to keep my
uterus if at all possible. Which is why I am here. I am looking at
connecting with women that have similar concerns and experiences. I
would much rather say I tried a natural way to help my fibroids than
take a drastic approach from which there is no turning back.

I will also add I am 38, married, with no kids. But with kitties.

I look forward to getting to know everyone.

Peace

Hi Christina,

Thanks for joining us.

Aargh, your story is all too common, of gynecologists who just want to
do surgery. If you do not have symptoms, the only reason that you
should have surgery for fibroids is if you are planning on having
kids. But of course in that case rather than hysterectomy you would
want myomectomy or perhaps embolization.

You don't say how big your fibroids are. Depending on their size, they
can be easier or harder to shrink with alternative methods.

There are so many alternative things you can try. Suggest seeing an
acupuncturist who has a specialty in fertility, if possible one who is
accredited by ABORM. Naturopaths can also help -- check to see if you
have heavy metals or candida, and doing some detox. Check out a Mayan
Abdominal Massage practitioner as they have been known to get good
results. There are also things you can do with diet.

I need to run right now but wanted to say a quick welcome, and looking
forward to others chiming in with their thoughts!

Thanks for the welcome!

I have 8 fibroids, the largest being about 8-9 cm. The others range in
size from 3cm -7 cm I had an ultrasound in September and then another
last month, and had not developed any new fibroids within the last 6
months. So that makes me somewhat hopeful. I look forward to reading
your blog. Thank you for sharing all this helpful information.

Peace.
