Google might be releasing there vp8 codec under opensource license are
you ready for this Kyran I know recordmydestop is not nor any of the
other screencasting tools on the Linux side. Is there any buzz with
FFmpeg or Mencoder on this?

I just tweeted about this yesterday. Keeping an eye - would love to
ditch the Flash but will be a while before any consensus is reached
viz codecs. Is VP8 that much better than OGG for example? But anything
that brings HTML5 and a video-tag closer is good news. Don't know
about any buzz in the encoder/converter front but they'll move fast as
and when - with the specs available I can't imagine its a hard job for
them.
