I would like to convert .rpm to .deb file's, for use in Ubuntu. I
heard of a program called alien, but I cannot seem to find anything
about it. Can anybody help me?

What exactly do you want to convert?

alien is a command line tool which can convert _some_ RPMs to deb
format, but it's not 100% reliable and not recommended.

Cheers,
Al.

second Alan's comments re alien. I have had some success but one can
easily be caught in a dependency nightmare. You probably know this but
one of Ubuntu's guiding philosophies is to eschew cutting-edge for
reliability. However there are experimental debian repositories which
often have software that can't be found on the main ubuntu trunk. With
a little bit of effort it's usually possible to find a deb of the
software in question. I would see the use of alien as a tool of last
resort.

Out of curiosity, what rpms are you trying to convert?

Thank You! I didn't know that would work in Ubuntu. Can I, copy and
paste the commands into the terminal?
