Hi,
I notice in a lot of the python tuts the instructor is using Windows
xp.
Can I follow along, for example, with the "image viewer in wxPython"
series if I'm using linux?

yes it does. wx is cross-platform and will work on linux too, if you
have an X-server and wx installed.
