How to use Shopizer in Eclipse

First, let me explain my situation.
I’m currently undergoing company training, and as part of it, I’m working on a solo project to create an original web application.
For this project, I decided to build an EC (e-commerce) site and chose this open-source platform, Shopizer.
However, while developing with Eclipse and using a Maven project, I was confused to find that it doesn’t seem to work unless I follow the setup instructions from the URL below.
I thought that if I added the dependencies to the pom.xml file, Maven would automatically download and make them available.
Is it actually possible to use it that way?
