Hi,
Is there any way to automate the customer invitation feature? As seen

Yes, but not with current API, unfortunately... unless there is
something undocumented.
Would be nice to hear from shopify what they recommend for getting
"activation url" in 3rd party apps.

The quick solution I can think about is some kind of
script/web-crawler which will login to your shop with your
administrative credentials and will be processing those repetitive
tasks for you ;)

Hi guys,

You're right, there's no way to do this through the API right now. I'll pass the feedback on to the relevant people though, so it'll be taken into consideration when we do the Customer Accounts API.

Just to add on, these features will help as well:
- Able to create customer account with password and set active.
- Web hook for customer account activation.

+1 for this feature. Very annoying not being able to let customers create an account before an order.

I have a brand that requires customers to be registered before showing them the prices which this does not allow for. They can't place an order if they don't have an account and they can't create an account until they place an order. How does that work?

It would be nice to be able to allow customers to signup and get an e-mail allowing them to login after. I understand your points below but I disagree with them. I have many customers who want to join before placing and order and are turned off that they can't! I can send you the voicemails!

When the sign up section is AFTER the checkout, your customers end up:

  • getting psychologically tempted to want to belong and join;
  • are thankful they don't have to sign up right away because that's just more clicks to go through;
  • realize after checkout that they can sign up and that all their information has already been provided for this. Your customers don't have to lift a finger. Sweet relief!
