Greetings developers!

I've been asked a few times by developers about the finer details of our billing API. To better document the process (and to give me a break from answering the same questions over and over), I've been updating the wiki page for Application Billing. Today's update: Charge States.

If you're using the billing API in your apps please take a look. Let me know if there are any questions that you feel aren't answered in that article and I'll do my best to fill in the gaps. Thanks!

Hi David

You say a shop can be put into a frozen state, and that we should only
provide service when the app has an 'active' state. Are you able to
provide a webhook for when a Shop becomes 'frozen', or do you require
us to use up an API call every log-in to check the state of a shop's
RecurringApplicationCharge?

Cheers,
Nick

You should check periodically to make sure that your charge is still active. Exactly how often you do this is up to you.

I also recommend always creating the app/uninstalled hook.

Having a webhook that pings upon a change of the shop's plan is a good idea - I'll look into it.
