Dear DVTJ members,
I hope that this email finds you all well.
Below is FYI from Koyabashi-sensei of Haverford College.
Harmony on
the Hill, Wilmington Friends Meeting
One year ago a tsunami struck the northeast coast of Japan, wreaking
devastation and tragedy on its residents, and damaging the Fukushima
nuclear power plant. March 18th - just one week after the first
anniversary of the disaster: Harmony on the Hill is pleased to welcome
a troupe of junior and senior high school students from this region as
they perform Japanese music and dance at the Quaker meetinghouse at
4th & West in Wilmington, followed by light Japanese fare. Please join
us!

Japanese Dinner and Traditional Music and Dance Performance
Did you know Delaware has a sister state in Japan called Miyagi
Prefecture? Coastal Miyagi was decimated last
March by a tsunami caused by a Pacific earthquake.
Harmony on the Hill has invited a traveling group of high school and
junior high school students from Miyagi Prefecture to perform their
show of traditional Japanese music and dance at the meetinghouse at
4th & West Streets in
Wilmington on Sunday March 18th at 2:30pm.
Miyagi and Delaware
"Curtain" at 2:30pm -- then following the performance, a light dinner
of Japanese food will be served to audience and performers. We hope
for all to meet
and enjoy sharing a meal.

Enjoy Japanese Song - Dance - Food!
Sunday afternoon | March 18 | 2:30pm
The performing groups are made up of students from
Kakuda High School and Iwanuma City Middle School. They will be
sharing Japanese traditional songs and dance.
Kakuda is located in the mountain side of Miyagi Prefecture, their
lifeline was cut off for more than two weeks after the disaster.
Iwanuma City is one of coastal areas hit by the tsunami. Many people
have seen footage of the disaster at Miyagi Airport, located in
Iwanuma City.
The recovery effort for both cities has been truly amazing, and you
can play a part!
Proceeds from this March 18 event benefit Delaware Fund for Miyagi,
Japan - for Miyagi Prefecture children orphaned by the tsunami.
